3 gun ammo question

I was looking into wolff ammo for a pratice ammo. when I read the product description it states that wolff is a bi-metal bullet with a steel core. well all the clubs I go to, I do beleive state NO STEEL CORE ammo! yet there is always someone shooting wolff ammo. am I missing something? sometimes in the shooters meeting they well as put out no steel core ammo. and someone will still use wolff.

Pre 2007 Wolf ammo had nonferrous bullets. This year they have tried to cut cost and added some amount of ferrous material such that a magnet will stick to it. I don't believe it is considered a steel core armor piercing bullet and "they" say it will not damage steel targets but I have not tested it myself.

Has anyone tried to test Wolf .223 on steel? The guys over on Enos say they have not seen any damage from it. With clubs not allowing it, it really cuts back on the new shooters as this is an in-expensive ammo that new shooters can afford. I shot it at GA State 3G and nothing was said. Even got to look at MGM flashers and auto poppers after shooting them and no damage. Does anyone know if Cleveland 3G will allow Wolf? TIA

Darn, I was just getting ready to purchase a new AK for some 3 gun competitions this year, so I could burn cheap ammo. This really puts a hitch in my get along. Is it all Russian ammo or just the Wolf brand, does anyone know for sure? I can shoot Barnaul just as cheaply if it's not affected.

I've never seen a club not allow it. The rule usually applies to SS109 type ammo. Wolf is not steel core it has a soft pot matal jacket that is copper washed with a lead core. I think it would be worse on barrels than it would be on steel targets.

Yes you may shoot Wolf at our match. Our club will not currently allow us to shoot steel of any sort with the rifles (shotguns, handguns only) so any type of rifle ammo is fine.

I use Wolf in my AK for 3-gun... it's fine, the steel jacket is very soft and is not steel core.
