Men were fighting hard on the beaches of Normandy. I didnt see a thread about D-Day so I thought I should add one before we got into D-Day +1. God bless those men who stormed those beaches that day. They truly are the greatest generation.

I know lots of TGOers think they're of the caliber of those guys, all strong and such. I know they were just regular guys, but their collective accomplishment stands miles high compared to our drivel, my military buddies notwithstanding. I get choked up if I think too long and hard about those of the late 30s and early 40s.

That generation of MEN and WOMEN paved the way for the GREATEST technological leaps know to man. I am humbled in their presence...my 20 years of service to my beloved country can in no way EVER compare to what they sacrificed.

I just lost my dad last week. He survived Omaha Beach at Normandy. He was a Navy Corpsman. I'm told before he was wounded he was treating with one hand, shooting with the other.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Arko. :2cents:
