NRA...WTF??

Recommended Posts

I keep getting phone calls from the NRA (Caller ID). When I answer, they hang up. Every single time. I call back and get a recorded message saying sorry they missed me and would call me again in a day. They call and hang up...I called the main office and they are closed. So if they are closed, why are they calling? So basically I'm not going to renew my membership as this is borderline harassment.

sounds like a computer glitch on the auto dialer.

Not worth getting worked up over. I do not think they are singling you out on purpose.

The NRA has taken to using autodialing systems, much like politicians, to annoy people. Don't even try to answer the phone because you can't tell a recording to never call again.

Since you do business with them, they are exempt from do-not-call regulations.

I don't don't like it either.

It would seem to me that since you do business with them, you may could just simply ask them to stop the phone calls. I'm pretty sure that you can ask them to stop sending you the mailings (which you probably get every other day like me), so I'm sure that they would take you off their call list.

Just saying it may help to just simply go to the source and ask nicely.

Great reasons to not support the only effective means of making our voices heard on 2A. No wonder we have a hard time holding the ground we've made.

Yep, right after I joined I got phone calls for about 3 weeks straight. I could see it on the caller ID and I ignored each one. I give them a decent amount of my money already. I do get a bit irritated with the way they fill my mailbox as well. I put up with it though because I still think they are valuable to all of us, on working for the 2A.

Is it true that going "Life" will stop the mail glut?

Probably so, but that requires effort and time.

It cost about as much money to join the NRA as a box of .380 ammo. I strongly encourage shooters to join and support the NRA. Without the NRA we would be like England.

I'd agree that in some ways the NRA has lost it's mind. Every organisation gets seduced by the power it achieves. At least they're on our side and take a vocal stand.

I apparently have not ended up on their calling list, but after I did the Easy Pay Life (EPL) membership, the mailings have seemed to calm down a bit. It might not be the perfect organization, but it is the best that we have at a national level.

The magazine itself is worth the membership fee, and the pictures of Nikki with Ted Nugent, Charlie Daniels and Chuck Norris at the annual meeting are just icing on the cake. Wish I could have been there.
