I carry a Passport Style wallet so when I show DL you can also see my HCP if you look closer.

I use mine most of the time as my main ID because the address on it is correct while my DL still has my old address. The guy at the voting place didn't even blink an eye. I've yet to have anyone rebuke me for it, and I've had at least one clerk ask me how hard it was to get (easy if you are a law abiding citizen!) You can sense from people's body language when something bothers them and there has never been any signs that people are taken back or scared.

Of course, it might help that I am a clean cut young gun that looks like he's probably a marine, but you never know!

Don't see a problem with it or see it as flaunting,

however that might depend on the person and their

attitude. The more they get seen, the more accepting

and less threatening they will be perceived.

I like that reasoning and Patrick Henry's, too. You hit the nail on the head with the attitude. It's the look that accompanies the display that is most irritating.

I used mine for ID, the last time I bought a handgun and they needed my DL number for the TICS. I figured they knew I carried anyway.

Think about that for a minute.....Since when does one have to have a DL to buy a gun?......The answer is they dont but one still needs some form of Picture ID right?.... so I guess in those cases the State ID card also has a number on it and that would become your HCP number.

No Picture ID?... you aint buying no gun nor doing a whole lot of other things either.

Since this is true in every state that I know of....do we not then already have to have at least a Federally recognized state ID card, which in turn IS a Federal ID card? :D:tinfoil::P:tinfoil:

Actually I dont worry about such things and was just pointing out that fact so that those who feel the need can go for more tin foil.

I know some of yall are thinking I am ....And you are very correct in that assumption :D I wouldnt have it any other way ;)

I would say yes an no. Yes it is a federal ID card in the fact that it is recognized as a Federal identification, but it is maintained and overseen by the state. Since the state controls it 100% it is not what you would technically call a federal ID.

I used my HCP as an ID the other day. LCUB needed 2 forms of ID to activate utilities at my new house and my DL and HCP were the most readily available.

The notice on the wall about IDs specifically mentioned the HCP as a valid form of ID too, so it worked out well.

Im not sure i follow this....and i may be misunderstanding.....your HCP number AND your DL number are exactly the same....

For the others that see no problem with showing your HCP as ID...how in the hell do you know that the "clerk" isnt reading your address and telling his buddies to go rob your house because you have guns????:P:tinfoil::P

You are correct, but that State issued, State Controlled Drivers License effectively works as a legal ID in all 50 states. So technically it isnt but effectively it is.:P

This must be properly understood for those who need the foil :P

Titan14....Dont worry...One does not have to own a gun to have an HCP;)

Which is why he gave them his HCP...since it is the same number....

If you use your DL how do you know the clerk isn't memorizing your address to tell his buddies to come steal your car??

I really like how the question is worded... "Do you flaunt your permit?" Instead of "Do you use your permit as ID?" Sort of skewed from the start isn't it? Reminds me of how antis ask poll questions about carry...

I don't care if anyone sees it. I think the CCW badge hanging around my neck takes all the suspense out of it anyway.

actually the CCW badge is SUNTU's but he lets me borrow it when I want to impress the ladies. Other than that I clip my HCP on my pocket protector.

i don't show my permit to anyone. I don't want people to even think i have a gun on me in public....it is not anyone's business...i tend to carry where it may violate people's 'policies'...'feelings'...all that kind of junk to protect myself...anyway..what's hidden on me is only known by me and the good Lord.
