Landlord Problem

Next time you take your rent down, have a printed letter saying the dishwasher is broken, and the landlord acknowledges that you have informed him by signing the letter. This should keep you out of trouble at the end of your lease if they say you broke it. It also puts the LL on notice that you have something in writing in case it comes to a legal resolution.

Good call-will do.

Shockingly, the LL has not called me back yet :)

I do NOT understand some of you guy's posts!!!!!!!

What if it was the heating system that didnt work?????

Go out and buy a heat pump and hope the landlord pays you back for it?????????

How about the roof????? if it leaks...pay a roofer to fix it and hope you get reimbursed?????

and before anyone throws the dagger.....YES...i AM a landlord!

Appliances are a bit different.

What if the toaster didn't work that was there when he moved in?

FWIW, I moved from a house I owned to one I'm renting in Jan.

The dishwasher did not work and was not covered in my lease.

This was not a problem because I brought my own appliances to his furnished place.

When I move out of this place, I will take my appliances with me.

I'm happy because I've got a much better and larger fridge, and dishwasher. The owner is happy because he now has a set of spares for his other properties.

No lawyers needed.

Sometimes it's just easier to handle things yourself, yanno.

I wouldn't make a big stink over something like this. Buy a decent used dishwasher, have their maintenance install it, get reimbursed. :poop:

I really should just drag it down stairs and start digging into it.

But as stated above, it looks older then me and I am not too optimistic about finding parts. Plus the whole 60 hr work week thing....

No....appliances are not a bit different.

If the unit was advertised to have a dishwasher, it is the owners responsibility to have it repaired.

If the unit was advertised to have a toaster....same deal.
