New Guy from Dickson

Recommended Posts

My first name is Mike B.

I'm originally from NYCity, now living in Dickson with my wife who is originally from Hickman County and who has many family ties in Centerville and in Dickson. Our son is a police officer in NYCity. I am an ex-Associate Member of the Dickson FOP.

My wife and I are just starting out as gun owners. In a week or less, our order from Bud's will arrive at the Sportsmans Store in Dickson. We ordered two new .40 cal Glocks.

We need to:

take the gun safety course

get our carry permits

shoot practice

et cetera......forever. We're just starting out, remember.

I noticed that tomorrow, June 5, 2010, there is a target-shooting gathering in Dickson on Coon Road. I will try to get there just to scope it out. I have no gun yet. I'm looking around for a place close to home where my wife and I can get in some practice.

I've got a lot to learn, but I learn fast.

If anyone has suggestions as to how we can begin the gun-owners part of our lives, I'd really appreciate some help.

Thanks

I'm here in Dickson myself. Very familiar with the Sportsman's Store (Rick is top notch!). I've been around several of the IDPA guys you mentioned as well and they are an awesome educational resource. Please feel free to PM me if I can help you in any way. I'm no gun expert but I know enough to be labile!

If you need loaners to shoot in the match, please PM me. I have a few G35/G22 you can use. Love to see you come back out to the range. I will be there Sunday working on the range and will be available to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

Welcome!

When you feel ready do come and see us at MCTS! Our next match on the 19th is a big match we will have 8 or more individual courses of fire. This would be a great opportunity for you and your wife to check out what IDPA is all about.
