Older 12ga Remington Shotgun

I got a 12ga Remington Sportsman Pump action shotgun for christmas this year and was wondering if anyone might have some info on it. I tried looking it up on the web and came up short...The gun is used and obviously and older gun but some questions I have are:

About how old is it?

Is it the older version of the 870?

The gun is in real good shape, I was just wondering what I have....

Pokey, bring it to the next shoot if you can make it. I picked up a Remington Sportsman Pump 12 a few years ago at a pawn shop and have been able to find very little info on it.

Mine is a nice pumper and I bet yours is too.

Remington has a historian. The number is 800-243-9700.

I called them once about a shotgun and they were very helpful. They gave me the info on the gun, when it originally shipped and what options it had when it shipped.

We'll I finally got to shoot it today, I was well pleased with it. Boom and I shot about 150 rd's at some clay birdies...great time and very pleased!!!
