I've been studying pictures of that hole all day. I think pics 2 and 3 are from 2007, regardless it's mighty fascinating.

Sinkholes in the US do not end up looking like a bottomless abyss like these do. Apparently, the geology of the area is volcanic with massive, extinct lava tubes underneath, unlike the limestone we are used to. The open spaces underneath Guatemala City must be massive.

Wonder how money the US will pour down that hole?

when I first saw it I thought it was chopped too. The hole is incredibly round and smooth.

I think there was some crazy stuff going on and not your every day run of the mill sink hole
