I'm thinking about picking one of these up if I dont run into a better deal on another gun. I fondled one in the shop and I like the feel of it, good weight, balance, feel. Grip is a bit thicker than I am used to but it still fits well. I like the safety features and it seems very concealable and I love the external hammer. Just curious if anyone has any experience with these, pro's/con's, etc.

Bersa makes a very good gun for the $$$ I also love the safety system and external hammer as well. Very reliable guns and nice size for carry plenty of ammo capacity also.

IMHO the 9mm version is the best version. I too own a UC 45. And like laktrash, I too used it for my permit qualification class (100%.) Laktrash, wasn't it purely satisfying to hear the plinks of the 22's others used interrupted by authority by the UC 45?

The UC 45 absorbs the recoil of the 45 well. However, the 9 almost like a 22 in recoil. Surprisingly light.

This is a simple firearm. Simple to maintain, simple to clean, simple to shoot.

Make sure you are buying the Ultra Compact Pro model - it will come with 2 magazines, Polygonal rifling, Round in Chamber indicator, and a single slot picatinny rail.

The safety key system is excellent - and makes the gun a paper weight, if you so choose. Good for those who have children...

I suggest going Matte instead of dual tone, as finish is the primary weakness of the brand.

The lifetime warranty is excellent, too.

Here is a good source of info: Bersa Chat Forum - just avoid the overly charged political sections...

Bersa Thunder Series - manufacturer's website.

FYI: Bersa is used by several major Police Departments in South America...

Finish isn't really an issue for me anyway. I am going to carry it and put it through it's paces at the range. Definitely not going to be a safe queen. As long as nothing else catches my eye I'll be picking one up on Tuesday. I just really like the looks of it. I dont know what it is about the external hammer but it is a big selling point for me.

I believe you will really like it. I bought an Ultra Compact Pro 9mm last year, and have been more than happy with my purchase! Also, I spent less on the new UC Pro than I did on either of two separate used 9mm's from other manufacturers last year. And, I'm more accurate with the Bersa than I am with either of my two other (highly thought of) pistols--Go figure

:panic:

I sold my S&W Sigma 9mm to fund a more apropriate(for me) carry gun. I have to throw down some more money but in my opinion this Bersa is exactly what I want, DA/SA, nice trigger, compact size, good capacity, and as I said before that external hammer just calls out to me.

I don't think you will have any regrets about buying it. My UC9 is one of those weapons I would trust my life to.

Would this be a good option for a petite lady such as myself? Sounds like a good deal and the look isnt all that bad either. Also this seems to be in my price range and caliber that Im looking for.

I think it would be a good option. However you may want to go and handle one to be sure. The grip is a bit thick and may be an issue if you have really small hands.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Bersa. I'd like to try one out myself.

another + 1 for the bersa 9mm. have a high cap (HC) model. has 17 rnd mags. the thing Ilike about hte external hammer is that I can have the hammer down on a live round and also a mechanical safety also which is something I really miss on my xd.
