Ford Stock

Ford's stock closed trading today at 11.99. When everything hit bottom, it was 1.77. I told myself I wasn't going to buy any unless it hit 1.50 and it never did. Now, I'm kicking myself.

There's time. I own it long and short. But the market's feeling is bearish as a whole with strong feelings of a double dip recession. Ford not taking the gov money was the best sign. My former employer bought 1000 at 2.50. Look at her now!

I had a plan to buy GM and Ford stock when they were below $2 per share. Laziness prevented me from following through. I'd have lost on the GM stock, but the Ford stock would have made very attractive gains. Nex time I need to follow through.

Rule #1 -- You can't time the market.

No you can't. You can, however, spot a good deal on a beat up stock if you see the company has the management in place to overcome the bad press they've recieved. When to sell it is another matter.

I bought it at 2.25, sold it at 5.00 and watched it keep

going up and up.

Ford just announced they are retiring the Mercury brand also.

They should have done this a long time ago. Mercury hasnt really had a place in the past twenty years or more.

I could never figure out what the Mercury line was anyway. It has always been since 1939, a re-badged Ford, not an improvement. It would be interesting to see just exactly what market share it actually gained Ford. Guess it made a lot of jobs for a lot of folks, the free market working. And then there was Edsel:screwy:. Yeah, I have always been partial to Ford and when they refused the bail out monies, even more so.

Mercury's sales are down 75% since 2000.

Ohh, and Mercury represents 2% of Ford Motor Company's sales.
