Good luck getting a group of people that don't carry to sign a petition supporting people that do. Sometimes you guys really crack me up with your naivety or wide eyed innocence. I couldn't agree more with your last line. I hope to he'll we DON'T need to do what I'm suggesting. But given this douche bag attorney's track record on this ****, the only way it won't be an issue is if the House fails to override the veto. I'm afraid the next time he gets to Chancery Court, it'll be just like last time and the fix will be in.

Well, good luck getting a server to call some attorney in Nashville if you don't leave a tip for dinner! They'll just refer to you with colorful language after you leave, and that will be the end of it.

I don't think that what I suggested with the petition is a good idea at all because involving servers that have nothing to do with it is the wrong approach, but you asked for better ideas than just refusing to tip. The last thing we want to do is draw negative attention form the restaurant employees and prove the anti's right (in their mind).

The lawyer works for his PAYING client. Other than getting even more pissed off and doubling his efforts, he won't give a flip if 10,000 servers call his office to complain, they aren't paying him. In my mind, stiffing the server just added one more person to the anti column.

If you want to do something constructive, you have to fight fire with fire. Get involved, raise money, hire your own lawyer, pay for an ad campaign. This is the lengths the enemy has done. We got to meet them on their turf.

Make an ally of your server. Tip them good, and attach a pamphlet to it. They work for the person who ows the place. Word will get back to the boss, and we may have another ally.

Not tipping is the lazy way out. By doing that we really haven't DONE anything.

I tip based on service. If it is good, they get a decent tip, not so good for not so good service. If I ever hear a server commenting about something I don't solicit, they don't get a tip. I'm there for the food, and I'm not there for their political commentary. I will gladly find another place to eat.

It would be filed in the Davidson Co Chancery Court and assigned to a judge. Best I remember there were 4.

Well, that's even more reason the tactic will be ineffective. The lawyer has his own agenda. Getting lots of people to call / harass him is not going to change his mind.

So, he got a few people together, probably paid them or gave them some kind of perk, and they agreed to put their name on some piece of paper. They either truely believe this anti crap, or they prostituted their beliefs for a bag of silver. Either way, they don't represent the rest of the hardworking folks across this state. You offer up something shiney, you can find someone to take it.

Again, I say we need to bring the fight to these people, not the folks who had nothing to do with it, and have zero power to change it.

Looks like they have a floor session scheduled on Wednesday, so I think it will be introduced then. I also think there is another 24 hour notice requirement so unless that is waived by 2/3 vote, Thurday would be the earliest, but right now the schedule is not showing a Thursday session. I have been hearing that Nikki thinks it will be Thurday or Friday, and she works for one of the Reps, so I guess I will go with that.

Thursday at best, no one seems to want to suspend the rules so that it can be voted on the same day, the "Rules" state notice must be posted, then 24 hours must elapse prior to voting, unless it is the last day of the session.

House was adjourned prior to the vote taking place in the Senate. If you view the video, you can see Rep. Todd in the Senate Chamber behind Jackson as he is making his remarks.

Full session in the House is Wednesday, but due to Budgetary concerns, the House will have sessions Thursday and Friday at a minimum.

Yeah, I did see him in the video....I thought maybe he was waiting for the vote so he could take it right away to the house. But I do remember now the house was already adjourned at that moment.

I guess one reason that there may not be anything on the schedule yet is they will wait and see how late they go Wed and then set a time to come back Thu....

I always thought just filed with the clerk, but I think some others have said that it has to be announced on the floor.

House has to be in session for the clerk to read the notice:

78. VETO.

Upon receipt of a veto message and return of a bill or resolution from the Governor, or a receipt of a message from the Senate advising the House that a bill or joint resolution has been passed by the Senate, the Governor's veto to the contrary notwithstanding, the Clerk shall read the message and cause the same to be spread at large upon the Journal. Thereafter, the sponsor of the bill or resolution may, upon twenty-four (24) hours typewritten notice and within three (3) legislative days after the filing of said notice, except the last legislative day of any annual session such notice shall not be required, move the House under the item of Unfinished Business to pass the bill or resolution, notwithstanding the objections of the Executive. If the motion shall prevail by a favorable vote of a majority of the members to which the House is entitled under the Constitution, the bill or joint resolution shall then be transmitted to the Senate unless the same was originally received from the Senate subsequent to its prior approval.
