Make sure you don't grab a 1 iron.

Even God can't hit one.

J.

The fact that it's not light.

Jack, if you have a point, now would be a good time to get to it, 'cause I'm losing interest fast... :-\

( I'm only just now finishing up my second cup of coffee for the day, so I'm not exactly up to Normal Operating Conditions just yet. )

Drink up, baby!

The pic didn't show at first, then it did. A pic of a "heavy" stick. My question was what made it heavy? Not knowing alot about woods, I searched for "heaviest woods" and found something beyond ebony called "ironwood" and I was wondering what cut of wood you preferred.

Ah... Thank you.

The shillelagh... Irish Blackthorn. Hard, Heavy, and tough as hell.

A cheaper solution would be to buy a cheap hickory shovel handle, cut it to a good length, and fit some sort of knob to the top end. A brass door knob or even a metal gear shift handle of some sort would do. Add a cheap rubber crutch tip to the bottom end, and you're all set.

I'll now continue with restoring my caffeine levels to their proper amount.

Two cups of coffee and a quarter pack of cigarettes is my usual breakfast. Food need not apply.

( For what it's worth, today seems to be one of those 3 cup days... )

3 cups of what kind/brand?

The kind that turns me into a weapon, rather than just a blunt instrument.:shrug:

Suppose I'd just grab one of the longswords, claymores, sabers, axes, katanas, etc, etc hanging in my house. Yup, thats right, before guns, it was medieval weaponry I bought, I'm set either way!

Except that pic is pretty clearly Cold Steel's poly version, and not wood at all.

Irish Blackthorn Walking Stick : Cold Steel

It probably is. All I was looking for was a clear pic of the type, and that's the best I found in a quick search. It looks like one is supposed to look, which is what I was after. That particular one could be made out of cheese, for all I care.

I know the feeling, CBW... I don't even have to get up out of this chair to lay hands on something not a gun, but dangerous just the same.

Riot batons and such have been made out of phenolic resins and other polymers for years now, and certainly seem to be up to the task of busting heads.
