IF THERE WERE NO GUNS WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE

It was a Spyder pimped out with about $200 in aftermarket parts, lol. I had that and a Tippman that was set up to look like a .50 cal sniper rifle and an awesome pistol. The only thing I have left from those days is the pump shotgun I built and thats in the back of a closet somewhere.

One of the above...

I see you're familiar with Windlass Steelcrap... er... Steel craft.

I also see what looks like some of Kit Rae's work in there, as well as one or two that may be Denex.. Dennix... I forget the spelling.

The first one looks like a Kris cutlery sword, and would probably be the first one I'd pick up if somebody needed skewering...

I can't place the 4th from the left at all... Who made it?

J.

P.S. Windlass gets a bad rap, but they actually make some pretty good blades for the price. A little heavy though...

Yep, that was a Kit Rae. If you are talking about the scimitar I am not sure who made it. Most of the pieces pictured I no longer own. I had to thin out the "herd" a couple years back so I kept only the shamshir, scimitar and my katanas(not pictured). They are all showpieces and the only piece I'd dare stick someone with would be the full tang katana that hangs on the wall next to the bed.....

Hey, even wall hangers will make a mess out of somebody once. :D

And it's the last sword, the one next to the flail/mace, that I figured for Kit Rae's... It and the spear. Kit likes ornate, spikey guards and lots of points and sharp edges. He and Gil Hibben have that in common.

I remember seeing no. 2, 3, and 6 ( from the left) in several of MRL's old catalogs.

StPatrick, your PMing device is off, so I say this here. Don't mistake my playful grammar jousting for anything menacing or sinister. There's a lot of humor in your posts that I'd hate to miss. Friends?

Ah... It's a Chokuto. More commonly known as a Ninja Sword, due to every Hollywood ninja in the past 30 or so years carrying one.

If the blade is stainless steel under that black, be careful; most stainless is way too brittle for long blades, and will snap at some of the most inopportune times.

J.

I looked at a few pictures on google and it looks pretty close, just not ornate or anything. I don't know who made it, there are no markings and the grip is just wrapped 550 cord. I doubt it's stainless, the edge developed surface rust quick when it was used on the damp brush... plus it's rather flexible.

Thanks for the knowledge.

Thanks for the knowledge.

You're welcome.

I just wish I could remember everything I ever learned about swords, knives, and steel in general.

Y'all are probably glad I can't though, 'cause I would probably type for days on the subject. :)

Visions of Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes when you guys were going on...and on...about swords. :D

Heh heh heh... you thought THAT was going "on and on"?

Would you like to discuss swords in general, or swords of a specific type or country of origin, sometime?

I know... how 'bout why stainless steel isn't much good for long blades? :D

Or maybe why Japanese swords are a marvel of ingenuity and engineering, but not really such great swords in general? :D

Believe me, I don't remember everything I've learned over the years, but I've retained enough to put everyone here not only to sleep, but all the way into a coma. :)

Alright, fine.

If you want to compare a Katana to a Glock, it only works in one respect: The absolute and rabid devotion that each one's followers have to them, and the almost-mystical reputation for perfection each has gained over the years, even though it's hardly true or deserved.

Past that, they're as different as daylight and dark, with the Glock being a product of every modern resource available, and the Kat being a product of having to do with nearly no resources.

( Japan has next to no iron ore to make steel with, so they had to resort to using iron-bearing sand... And that requires a long hard process that still doesn't produce a top-grade iron... which in turn doesn't make for good steel. Unless you spend weeks beating the crap out of it and hammering out the impurities.) ( And now you know why Japanese swords are folded so many times. :) )

Shall I continue?

Dude, I really wanted to know about the proper usage of [sic]. The implications were interesting, since I wrote (so it was not a 2nd hand quote) the line about "sweet numchucks" as sarcasm, as I was impersonating an editor while quoting myself. Despite my educational handicap, having never minored in English (since I already speak it good) I wanted to know the proper usage.

You've probably disappointed a lot of people by showing a rudimentary conscience here.
