Just read an article about Maryland police trying to arrest 7-8 people for video taping them at the Preakness horse race, arresting a young woman for something. They actually told the people "you cannot film this, put your cameras away." And also said what they were doing was illegal, so now some of them are in trouble.

What the hell is this crap?! Theyve got video in the cop's cars, and can tape us,but we cant tape them? BULL**** I says.

Im about tired of this "We can do anything we want, but you cant do anything" crap the po-po is trying to get away with across this country.

If this isnt a BLATANT violation of the First Amendment, I dont know what is. Id tell them, real quick, to piss off and pound sand. Seems to me, they want more and more power over basically law abiding citizens, yet do almost NOTHING to the illegals and true criminals. They all know where the dope dens are, and the gang members, and other criminals, but let some citizens video an arrest, and its like Russia 20-30 years ago.

Enough of this crap already.

In some states it is illegal to video tape or record someone without their knowledge. Not having a story to go by, I'd say there might be more to this than it just being black and white.

I was being filmed by one of the local news channels a few years ago, I told the cameraman to stop filiming. He complied. I assumed that once I requested he stop that he had to do so. I also assume the cops have those same rights

I would also think that many officers can't have their faces on tape because of current or future operations where they can't be identified as an officer. I've been out taking pictures and had many officers approach to make sure they weren't on camera. Of course, they have all been polite so far, but I can understand their reasons.

Agreed.. It was in Maryland too, I'm surprised they can televise Orioles and Ravens games without having to ask the entire spectating body their permission...:screwy:

I am pretty sure that scenario is covered by your ticket or admission to the stadium.

I know... I was being sarcastic.

Uniformed officers, out in public at a horse race, arresting someone would not be the same as video taping, say an undercover agent or even SWAT team member. And, the fact that they knew they were being video taped means it was not being done "in secret". Again, they can video us, but we cant them? I still say to hell with that.

They put those censor circles over our faces.
