University Police Agencies

I am wondering what type of handguns are issued to the University Police dept in Tennessee? Specifically UT and UTC. I'm pretty sure I have seen Glocks but I was wondering what model.

I'm not sure if they've changed or not, but I believe the UT Police at the Memphis HSC campus had a S&W model. Not a Sigma, but one of the metal S&Ws (they all look about the same).

University of Memphis PD carries the same .40 cal Sig P229R DAO that Memphis PD carries. They used to carry Sigmas several years back, but every time they turned around, they were having issues with them.

I agree. Every LE agency needs 'em! I'd trade my issued P226 for a Glock 22 any day of the week.

I would say that UT and UTC most likely carry those to then. It looked like a 17/22/31/21 when I saw them I should have asked.

Pretty sure MTSU has walther P99's, also seen at least one SBS 870, and an SBS 1187 mounted in the cars.

The way the UTC department is run I wouldn't be surprised if they are all carrying used HighPoints

Glocks and they got AK-47s in the trunk of their vehicles....for riot control, that is...

I could have sworn I've seen Glocks on the hips of the UT police officers... Couldn't tell you which one, but I assume a G21 or 22

Its been a while since I left UT but I do remember it was very similar to Glocks whenever I saw them carrying around.
