I can recommend one as I have spent some time at the range with them. Definitely more of a duty type weapon more than a concealed carry weapon. What caliber are you looking to get?

.40

.40

I don't know a lot on the .40 but I imagine it would be very similar to the .357 sig DAK that I spent some time with. Overall verdict is I would buy one but like I said before not the most easily concealed.

I'm not particularly concerned with concealment. I'm looking for a shooter. My P250C is my current favorite shooter and I typically carry it in a Galco OWB. Just like in the Big Lebowski, never trust an old guy wearing a vest in the summer time...lol

I'm really thinking seriously about a P229. Does anybody in the Tri-Cities area have one?

I'd really like to see one up close and personal before I take the plunge.

I don't know where the Tri-Cities area is. I'm in Memphis. I have a Sig P229 in .40 caliber. I like it very much -- easy to shoot.

I got a shirt from lapolicegear.com. It says 5.11 Tactical series on the collar. It was recommended to me by some instructors at Range Master. I think it helps conceal the gun very well.

The Tri-Cities are Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City, in the extreme northeast corner of the state, Pretty much as far away from Memphis as you can get and still be in Tennessee.

I carry a 229 .40 in a Milt Sparks VMII. It's a fabulous weapon... incredibly accurate, eats anything. that and the 226 are my faves.

The 229/.40 is my all time favorite handgun. Very accurate and 100% reliable. I carried mine concealed year round for ~4 years in a Milt Sparks VMII on a Beltman belt. I switched to carrying a P250 in a BladeTech UCH due to the lighter weight. The UCH also carries the pistol lower to the belt than the VMII and I think it would lend itself nicely to carrying a 229 concealed.

Thanks all for the feedback. It sounds as if everyone with the P229 feels the same way I do about my P250.

How's the trigger on the p229?

The trigger feels fine to me. The initial trigger pull felt tough to me, but I've gotten used to it. I view it as a safety of sorts -- if I'm applying enough pressure to activate that first trigger pull, it is no accident. I love the subsequent lighter trigger pulls.

I have 3 SIG p229s and love them all ... especially the SCT models in 9mm and .40 S&W. I highly recommend the gun
