AR questions

OK, so I have been looking for a while now and am thinking about jumping into the AR game. I've looked at several, but have just about settled on a pretty nice Bushmaster with a few goodies for a pretty decent price. My main question at this point is what are good, decent mags for the bushmasters? I found a special online for 5 new brownells 30 round mags for $50. The add said that was almost half price. Just wondering if these are decent mags or are they crap? I don't want to spend a fortune, but I want something I can rely on to feed dependable too. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

P mags are awesome. Brownells mags are great. I have a few P mags and a couple dozen Brownells mags. Never a problem out of either. Not the case with some other brands.

P-mgs will run you 17 to 20 dollars at the gun show, surf the web, sometimes one of the vendors will be running a special. I got 10 older generation pmags for $90 shipped back in March.

$10 for a Brownell AR mag is a good price.

AIM sells the 30 round pmags for $14.20/ea with free shipping. If you're patient you can get them for around $10 each.

Another great place to buy is Palmetto State. Their 30 rounders are on sale for $12.78(has to be put in your cart to show discounted price) but shipping is $7 so you would have to buy a bunch to beat AIM.

There's nothing wrong with buying a bunch! :dunno:

Thanks guys! ya'll are great. Since it sounds like they are better than the brownells, I guess Will do an extensive search and try to get some of the pmags as cheap as possible. sounds like I could get pretty close to $10 each if I look hard enough. Thanks again.

Not sure about Brownells but Midway's shipping is a little high.

I just looked at midway and the ones I saw were $14.20/ea. I'm assuming you meant midwayusa?!

Yes… sorry I have a C&R so my price is lower than what you will see.

Pmags are the way to go. I just got some from cheaper than dirt for around 12.00 a piece. If you go with USGI mags they can be great too, but need the magpul followers.

PMAG's are very hardy and hard to kill. You'll find torture tests all over the web. They also feel very reliably. Its hard to beat the PMAG's.

+1 about the Pmags being tough. I threw the most recent ones I got against a wall as hard as I could and stomped on them and they still work great.
