Phil at Bellshire Hardware was great we sat around and BS about guns while doing the paperwork I will definately be buying more from him. Of course as some of you will notice this is not the original color as soon as I got home I shot it with Dura coat BEFORE I even shot it.

If it shoots like the last 2 that I have had my hands on it will be a good shooter. I figure I'll give it a couple more days to cure then I'll be slinging lead.

Nice looking piece and great job with the Duro-Coat, but what flavor is this piece?

Colt Compact? Defender? Rock Island? 9mm? .45acp?

Give us the run down on this rascal....:).

It's a Rock in 45 acp. ran a few rounds threw it the other day and it seems like it is going to shoot good but it's still tight so I need to shoot a lot more :screwy:

I went by and saw Phil today. I too bought a Rock Island Compact Tactical. When Phil took it out of the box and plastic bag, it was dripping with oil. I guess they wanted to make sure it didn't rust on the boat trip over. Took it home and got all the excess off and relubed it. Hope to get out and shoot it this weekend. BTW, it has a better trigger than my Springfield Loaded Model.

I paid Phil a visit about a year ago and picked up the same gun but mine has checkered grips. It's an outstanding pistol. I have about about 600-700 round through it without a hiccup. Very accurate.

Range update.

Went to break in my new Rock and broke it instead. Fired 2 rounds and it locked up solid. I liked to never got it apart. The recoil spring reverse plug slipped out of it's place in the slide which put the guide rod in a bind. Must have happened on the first shot. Shot number 2 put a gouge on the plug which kept it from sliding back into the slide recess.

Got home, called Arnel in Nevada. He said he would send me another plug. He also said if the plug was not seated properly, it would do that. I think I had it seated properly, as the plug and rod were flush with the muzzle. After shot 2, the rod was sticking out about a half inch. Since a new part was coming, I filed the oop's off of the plug and reinstalled. Was only able to fire it 3 times in my yard, but seems fine now. I'll see what a real range session reveals.

Here is the part.
