Any 50bmg shooters near Nashville?

I've seen the posts and know that there aren't any ranges near the Nashville area, but there has to be some shooters somewhere local.

I just can't find a distance past 300yds to sight in my 99. Anybody want to share info let me know.

PM me if you have any interest in joining up.

I'd check with Outpost Armory. Because of their association with Barrett, they may know some private ranges that would let you shoot.

The range out in Manchester is the only one I'm aware of and it only goes to 300. I have the same problem with my 99.

I know several fine places to shoot, can get 1+ miles. The only real problem is that they are in Eastern KY 350+ miles away. The things we do to shoot our toys several times a year.

I'll drive that far to be able to shoot 500+. I'll even bring the ammo and the beer for after.

I keep saying we need to group purchase a plot 25 yards wide and 1000 yards long, but so far no one else is interested. :screwy:

I have to go to Illinois to be able to do that; can’t find anything here.

The TWRA range at Southside, TN has a 400 yd range. Cost is 5.00 or 5.50. It is about 60-70 miles from Nashville.

Will they let us shoot 50s? The TWRA range at Stones River won't allow anything bigger than a .338.

I believe Tullohama has a 1,000 yd range. Don't know about the 50.

I believe they used to offer the 50 option. However, I haven't looked further at that option.

I'm just dreaming that someone would offer up a huge piece of land with a proper backstop, doesn't mind loud noises, and tolerates professional buffoonery.

Tullahoma has one at the base. The problem is (as related by some on this forum) that you can’t practice there. They said the only way you can shoot there is to enter a match. I saw on another forum that they don’t allow anything over .338 because there is no berm. I just read that I don’t know if it’s true. How can you have a 1000 yard range with no berm?

I would like to shoot my .308 there.

DoD has lots of them, it is all about mapping SDZ (surface danger zones). If you plan ranges correctly you can have ranges in the 4000 meter length that share common impact area with many other smaller ranges and never build a berm for any of them.
