I'm just at about $800, so I'm doing my part in keeping the average low. If you have no debt, then you're probably not included in this.

Gosh guys, show some pride and help us out here.

Haven't had a credit card in 10 or more years. I see no need for one. My debit card does everything that a credit card does, including cash back, without the interest.

I paid off all my cedit cards in 1999 and have not had one since. My wife had a Kohl's card for a few months once since then but we paid it off then destroyed it. Right now the only debt I have is the truck payment and the mortgage.

My feeling on it is if I don't have the money for it I don't need it. I can plan for something if I really want it. If it is an emergency and I don't have the money then I take out a loan, that way there is a definitive end. It also is a positive to your credit score. A credit card isn't always a negative, just when you get in over your head.

even though TN is ranked second, that is still not a very big spread. and surprised it is not higher....

Luckily, I got into Dave Ramsey when he first got on the radio... Changed my life.

I wonder if that's a per card average, per person, or household? - I know several people that have 3 or more cards with that kind of balance...

well, best buy is letting me borrow money for free for 3 years....so when uncle sam gives me some money, no more credit card debt for me....but house and cars, well that is a different story.

Unfortunately due to a stupid car i fall under that, but now im paying it all off. already destroyed all but 1 card that is set for emergencies only

Never had one.

I know a guy who beat the card companies by some pretty amazing tactics. Had 30,000+ dollars just wiped away. Granted, he won't qualify for any type of credit for about 7 years, but I don't think he'll want any either.

^ I wouldn't want to be that guy ($30,000 in debt, bankruptcy)... I'm debt-free, besides a mortgage, and it feels damn good. I refuse to charge things on credit, unless it's an emergency, and that's why I have an emergency fun saved up in the first place.

I like emergency fun, too.. :) But I can't save mine up, because she just makes me use it....

NO D*MN CREDIT CARDS EVER AGAIN!. Learned my lesson on credit cards. I will never have a credit card again. Trying to get out of debt. 4 months left on the house. Setp. is the last house payment. Watch out. I will be be building a AR. I have a lower, but that is all. Going to order a kit that has ever thing, except the lower. Can't wait. I have a buddy that is going to put the lower parts kit in for me. But I will be watching him. So when I get my second lower, I will do it myself. gearyr

I have 3 credit cards and I use 2 of them quite frequently. I got my first card when I turned 18, I bought a computer with it and paid it off in 6 months same as cash.

Just by using my credit card and paying it off EVERY month has built my credit up. I am currently debt free and my credit is excellent.

The problem isn't the credit card, it's the user!!! people are just irresponsible when it comes to money.

Honestly, I got my card when I was 18, too.. And I would buy something and pay it off quickly. I have a little bit now, but it's gonna be paid of in a month or so.. I'm almost 22 and I have really good credit, especially for the economic and credit times we're in...

+1000 Erik. All our cards are cash-back. We charge everthing and at the end of the year they send us $$$$. Love it ! Too bad our Gubermint can't figure this out.

The boss just said you sound like a pretty smart kid :).

You're doing a pretty good job yourself. We told our kids, if you can't buy it 0% over time, save for it. Why spend $2700 for a $2200 TV.

Exactly!!! The funny thing about it is, I never realized how much it compounded until I started working for Aaron's Sales and Lease Ownership about a year and a half ago and realized the difference, and we were cheaper than a credit card and we were expensive.

Same here. My last credit card resides in a bunch of tiny pieces, inside the shotgun shell that blew it apart. Not really necessary, but more fun than just cutting it up.

Well if you are in debt, develop a plan to pay it down. We had to do it after some "Emergencies" that were beyond our control.

Now I only have a truck payment that will be done in a year.

Life always throws you curves.

Gotta love Dave Ramsey on Fox Business.

In this "Obama" ecomomy the less you owe the better. He is making the same

mistakes as Roosevelt. Can you say DEPRESSION?

Good luck to all.........................
