Well, a couple blades I ordered came in and I like! To follow up on another thread about the best survival blade I decided on the Cold Steel Kurki machete. It's a little dirty because I had to try it out on some long overgrown stuff in the yard that ranged up to 2". It handled it with no problems. I'm impressed. Only thing I didn't particular care for was the thiness of the handle. It was a bit small for me and would tend to twist more than I'd like. Easy fix with some para cord. Cost $17 from Amazon.

2nd and my most favorite is the Gerber Applegate/Fairbairn F.A.S.T. It is a spring assisted open full size folder. Works very well. While it is beveled on the top it comes with only the under side sharpened. I'll definitely sharpen the top side as well. The handles are G10 and has a piston lock. REALLY like this knife. It is a bit heavy but only compared to my normal Gerber Ripstop folder. That one is super light and 1/4 of the size. This is more of a fighting knife so I appreciate the serrations that will give it more versatility as an EDC. I was also pleasantly surprised that it came with the signatures on the blade. It wasn't supposed to. Those cost about $40 more! I would definitely like to compare it to the Applegate/Fairbairn titanium version, but that one is $100 more. Blade is 440A(?) on this version. It also come with AUS8 ($98) and Titanium ($200) versions.

You and I have too much in common. First the MSAR. I have had the Applegate/Fairburn Combat Folder for about 7 years and the same Cold Steel

Kurki for about two years. I'll post a picture.

The Combat is awesome but too long for a mere civi like myself to carry;). I really like the both blades. Did you get the upper edge sharpened?

Here's a picture. No I didn't get it sharpened on the Folder. I did on my LMF for a 1/4 of the blade.

I have several of the CS machetes, including that one, come to think of it.

Long bolo, a double edged, and bowie, too.

Quite good functionality for the bux.

Also, not too long ago, in similar vein, but for no particularly good reason, other than a hazy notion of SHTF use or some such, picked up a couple of the War Head whoppers really cheap as they were discontinuing them:

They were both pretty good. The first guy is probably the fat kid in the army gear splashed around the interweb and the second guy was just funny.
