need a little help. Would you guys and gals make this trade? This is an EDC gun so it needs to be light, reliable and powerful. I would have to give 60 dollars in boot for the glock.

Both guns have different purposes. Money wise the trade sounds good depending on the respective conditions of each gun. The G27 has more than twice the firepower but is considerably larger and heavier. I have both and carry each at different times. If I could only have one of these two guns it would be the Glock hands down. JMHO

Each is different enough I'm not sure you can compare them fairly to say which is better as a EDC. You can look at it this way. You've got a 642 wanting to trade for a 27, and the other guy has a 27 wanting to trade for a 642. The snub has been S&W's highest selling gun for years now for a reason, it's ability to be carried. If your mode of dress will allow you to pull off carrying the 27 everytime you go out, no matter what you're wearing, then get the 27. If there are times it won't, then stick with the 642. In my case I carry a 642 for the simple reason I have so many carry options it can always be carried somewhere on my body no matter what I'm wearing.

As Cheez said, he's got both for a reason. Most folks will carry different guns for different occasions. If I'm going somewhere I don't feel comfortable with the 642, my M&P 40 goes along.

With that being said, I'd keep the 642 and pick up a 27 when you can afford it to add to your carry options.

As stated above, they are different guns for different demands or requirements. The Smith is so much easier to deep conceal.........A feller needs both.
