it isn't like all the legislature has done is argue about this dumb ass guns in bars law.

If everything they do is a cluster**** like this bill its no wonder things are a mess.

This particular bill should not have taken an hour (total time) to resolve.

Sort of like the Nextell commercial with the firemen in congress right?

Maybe all just need to get out Nextell phones and head to Nashville? A bunch of TGOers up there would get things done. :P Not to say we agree 100% all the time....but we'd have our Nextells...so all would be good.

The funny thing is, constitutionally all the legislature has to do is approve and pass budget. Other stuff is sort of "extra".

Senate Floor Session Scheduled for 10:00am (Central) today.

Tennessee General Assembly::Streaming Video

According to their rules, here is the order of business...

19. ORDER OF BUSINESS. The Daily Journal shall be read only on a motion duly passed, and corrections, if any, made immediately.

The Speaker may provide for an invocation to begin the daily sessions of the Senate. The person delivering the invocation may offer prayer according to the beliefs and practices of his faith but shall be informed that the citizens of the State of Tennessee and its elected Senators are of a variety of faiths and beliefs that prayer in the Senate should respect that diversity, and if, within the constraints and conscience of the prayer leader, the prayer should be ecumenical.

After appropriate opening ceremonies, the Speaker shall call for the following:

(1) Roll Call

(2) Introduction of Bills

(3) House Bills on First Consideration

(4) House Bills on Second Consideration

(5) Senate Bills on Second Consideration

(6) Introduction of Resolutions

(7) Resolutions Lying Over

(8) Unfinished Business and Notices

(9) Calendar

(10) Messages

(11) Reports from Committees

(12) Statements and Announcements

Members may briefly recognize guests or visitors in the gallery or in the Chamber during Item 12 (Statements and Announcements). Guests and visitors may not be admitted to the Chamber during session for introduction without the prior approval of the Speaker.

As a side note, the streaming video page is showing this as the 89th Legislative day for the Senate and the 87th Legislative day for the House.

So the Senate has 1 day after today and the House 3 days.

seems to me most of what they do is have penis measuring contests.

I have read very little legislative news aside from the gun stuff, but my Rep sends email every week or so as an update and he always has news about things they are doing aside from guns. The media hardly mentions those items at all around here.

LMAO.....

There is lots of stuff that doesn't get attention. Also the stuff that does get attention...well there are groups that certain bills interest, like us and firearms, but in general I don't think most of the state has a clue as to what is going on...or cares....

I've also noticed that little yapping dogs bark at me because I make them nervous. Same is true for the media, bedwetting politicians, and their band of bitches. "OMG, Its a PERMIT HOLDER! Flounce away, flounce away!" *FAINT*

Once the Senate deals with this today, can they send it right over to the House chamber while they're in floor session today? Can it possibly be a done deal by this afternoon and in effect by tomorrow?

In theory I'd say Yes, if the house suspends the rules. Well at least as far as being overridden, not sure how long to sign it and it be in effect.

I did wonder if something like that might happen when the House recessed until 10:00 "to get in sync with the Senate"

lol. No, its because I carry a tool that can make small pieces of metal fly at high rates of speed and makes noises like the gods in the sky. I just hope these people don't revert all the way back to flinging monkey poo.

That would be awesome.

FWIW, House back in session and on House Message Calendar (2) which only has one bill, then they will go to the Regular Calendar, which only has 5 bills.

So looks like house could be adjourned before the senate even starts, if they don't get going soon.
