Regardless of what someone else said you, alone, control what you say. The central issue in being armed is safety.

Remember - No matter the type, no matter how new...the best gun saftey will always be you!

Ok. Not a "Diss." More like an attempt of a weak Ego trying to show self importance.

Letting the dolt be was best. Arguing with the "ego blow" self absorbed is useless.

I dont care if someone OC's but dont be so shocked when someone makes a comment about it.

Actually I am shocked (and impressed) when someone makes a comment because it shows they have at least some situational awareness, most sheeple NEVER notice an OCed gun on a civilian (or a LEO in civilian clothes)...I say that from experience. I OC in the summer and almost never get any looks or comments.

He must have been a real manly man to say it as we walked out the door.. :)

+ 1 Yea I always did think it was funny when someone voiced their opinion as they walked away, must give their very small chicken s#$t ego a boost. You did the right thing by holding your tongue but I bet it was hard not to laugh as he headed in the other direction

Sheep don't generally like or appreciate the sheepdog- until the wolf has his teeth in their... hindquarters.

I try to carry concealed if at all possible, but in hot weather with a large pistol, well....

I actually had two thugs harassing a store owner cease and desist, and walk out when I walked in OCing last week (riding the lawn mower on my "gun money" extra job).... It was amusing. One walked over to see if that really WAS a gun on my hip. I watched him in the cooler glass and when he got "close enough", I turned and looked him in the eye. They got the hell out of Dodge.

Anyway, there are a$$hats everywhere, with smart comments to make. Ignoring them is the right thing to do. Eventually, they will pi$$ off another jerk, who will give them a lesson in keeping their comments to themselves.

With my smart A$$ nature, I would have replied...."It aint for your safety".

And I'm afraid my response would likely have been along the lines of "You probably shouldn't".

But then I'm not known for playing nice with imbeciles or jackasses... :-\

maybe he was referring to the reciept checking senior at the door, dunno

I was actually wondering if the guy might not have been talking about something completely different, myself. Heck, maybe he was there buying condoms. Either way, the OP did well in just ignoring the comment. Don't feed the trolls - whether on the 'Net or at Walmart.

Sounds like you handled it well...

I think you pointed out the problem with OC when you said:

"I didn't even see who it was, and did not react at all..."

- Unless you have 360 deg radar, you put you and yours at risk with open carry.

I agree, you handled it great.

I OC but have made it my own rule to really not do it in stores, unless its just running in to pay for fuel and to grab a soda or something at a convenience store.

Waiting.... Waiting....Wait....Wait for it....

!!BAM!!

:)

I was going to say that I hope he wasn't carrying a 9mm, because everyone knows it is ineffective as a self-defense round.

And puppies are not cute.

99% of the time I carry IWB.

BUT I disagree that I put anyone at risk. The 1% I OC its in my Serpa, covered with a shirt. In the minute possibility someone trys to take my weapon- I have a practiced BU plan. While you are trying to disengage my XD from the serpa with my right I will resist the attempt. At the same time I'm going lefty into my left pocket. Suprise!! 7 Golden Sabers from my .380.

Like all other scenarios, It's all about preparation. If you carry in the most advance CC IWB setup there is, if you don't practice the draw you'll be ill prepared when its ime to defend yourself.

my :2cents:

you get what you pay for

The vast majority of the time, I carry OWB under an untucked shirt. That is NOT open carry.

Have you ever seen the Serpa and how the belt slide Serpa rides? This thing sticks out like 4" from your side! I only pull the shirt over it to cut down on it hanging on the all the racks in department stores as I walk by. Technically from a legal aspect it may be concealed BUT it is by NO MEANS actually concealed. This thing gives new meaning to the term "printing".

For some reason the words "Gutenberg Press" come to mind...

Just another reason not to OC.

x2 I agree. If everyone did it wouldn't be a big deal but I don't know that I'll ever open carry unless I'm at the range or something.

Yeah I have the Serpa but man does it protrude. I set it aside and will use it in the fall/winter when I am using a jacket

From everything I've read, I see no advantage to the Serpa unless you are actually OCing or at the range.
