Have you decided not to buy a 380 because of the ammo shortage?

I've been thinking about buying a little pocket .380 but the fact that .380 ammo is so hard to find, has made me hesitant. Is it just me?

There is plenty of 380 out there. Maybe not at the local gun store but it's available on many websites at reasonable prices. With patience you'll find ammo. It's not like you'll need hundreds of rounds a week or anything...just enought to break the gun in and practice from time to time.

Yah, I bought 100 rounds of SGD's last week, plus picked up another 250 or so misc rounds here on TGO.

They're out there...

The Armory, Virginia Beach, VA. Good prices, lousy website. Just shipped me 1K for the 380.

Wow. That is a lousy website. I just checked it out. Decent prices, though.

Yeah, its tough finding ammo. Ive bought 300rds over the past 6months and still havnt shot any of it.

I don't shoot much .380 - so little in fact that it's not even worth reloading for me. If I find 150 rounds a year, that's probably more than I'll shoot. Like Garufa said, most folks don't care to shoot too much .380.

I got tired of playing hide and seek with .380 ammo and sold both of mine. Bought a Keltec p9 and don't have any ammo problems anymore!

No, I decided not to buy a .380 when there was an abundance of ammo. :panic:

No, I decided not to buy one because the ammo is too short.

That was one factor. I was looking long and hard at a Ruger LCP, but I kept seeing empty shelves where .380 was supposed to be, and when I did see it the prices were stupidly high. I figured if I was going to have to spend that much extra $ on ammo I'd rather spend it on a PM9 to carry when the 649 is a bit too heavy/bulky.

There are a lot of pretty small (not as small as LCP I know) 9mm's out there. Ammo is cheaper and easier to find. I traded my pk380, even though I liked how it conceals very much. It's not hard to find a 9mm about it's size though. Just my 2pennies.

I acquired a 32ACP because I hadn't seen any 380 ammo for less than twice retail. Of course a month later I ran into it everywhere o line and even saw 12 boxes sitting at Sportsmans Warehouse $20/50. BUT I can still buy 32ACP almost any Wally World, haven't seen 380 at one yet. If you're worried, buy the ammo you think you'll need beforehand.

If you order it, it will come...

It makes me want to trade my Sig p238 for a Kahr pm9.....but I have been able to find ammo on Cabela's website when I need it.

+1, This is my view exactly. I also have other carry guns in the event I can't get it at all. Lately, it seems like Cabelas is the best place to get it.

Yup I sold two 380s because I could never shoot them. Normal prices for 380 now are very steep, not to mention the gougers out there wanting 25-30 a box for off brand stuff. Even Wally world is charging 18 a box for Remington. That's more than 45 and nearly twice the price of 9mm.

When I was at guns and leather last week they had two stacks of Winchester 380 for 17 a box, limit two per customer.

I love this!!!

Keep up the good work!

Kind regards,

BryanP took the words out of my mouth. I want a pocket gun and would like to have a 380 something but whereas he chose a PM9 I will probably purchase a CW9 next month. This makes sense for me because I already have a Glock 19 so I can standardize ammo.

Its coming back. Wally World in Cookeville had the first couple of WinWhtBox in .380ACP I can remember seeing in AGES! Gotsta be a good sign? Other brands available at local gun shops. Golden Sabres (my BUG carry round) have been no problem. Hornady CD's are a different story.

In general, .380 can be found.
