Gasoline Question

Federal tax on gas is 18.4 cents a gallon.

Gas usage =378,000,000 gallons per day

137970000000 gallons per year

$25,386,480,000.00 in taxes.

Estimated receipts for fiscal year 2010 are $2.381 trillion, an estimated decrease of 11% from 2009.

The Department of Defense uses 4,600,000,000 US gallons (1.7×1010 L) (4.6 billion gallons) of fuel annually, an average of 12,600,000 US gallons (48,000,000 L) (12.6 million gallons) of fuel per day.

So even if you quarter the number of the 25.38 trillion dollars to cover federal and state government agencies that don't pay the tax, there is still several trillion dollars left over from gas taxes alone. Where da money go? Or can someone explain it in better detail to me?

:shake:

And the government doesn't pay taxes on gas. They don't pay taxes on anything.

I'm not sure how much this really gets used, but how can you not use this a feel shamed?

Maybe TGO's flyboys can find us that info.

I thought I read somewhere that it was at least weekly to back and forth between DC and CA.

I agree, though. Shame, shame. Especially coming from the state with the most "green" morons.
