Concealed weapon?

Hey folks, new to the forum and have enjoyed the reading and info. Needing some info on what would be a good gun to use and a concealed weapon. At the present, I have a little Taurus .38, and just looking to upgrade. As a hospice chaplain, there are times I enter areas that can be a little "hairy". I believe in prayer, but it helps to have "Thelma" as a back up for those who dont believe :D. The gun primarily would be kept in the truck, but at times also on myself, along with in my house. Thanks for the input.

Find a gun you like, carry it. You'll find a variety of opinions on the matter, and folks that carry everything from a little .380 in a pocket to guys carrying full sized .45 autos every day.

What is it about the Taurus that makes you want to upgrade? Do you want a different caliber, or to move to a semi automatic? Longer barrel?

Welcome to TGO, by the way. :D

Welcome in, Brother.

Can't go wrong with any of the semi-auto offerings from Glock, Springfield XD, Smith & Wesson. They're great, reliable, and can be had at a price point well within most budgets.

I carry an XD 40 SubCompact 75% of the time. The other 25% varies between the pocket carry of the SP101, and other XD / Glock.

For the record, I too believe that God's KJV1611 is more powerful than Browning's M1911!

Best advice is to go to a gun range that rents various gun types and pick you out the one that fits you best.

What hospice company? I do a lot of consulting for a couple of hospice companies in the Nashville areas.

Welcome brother, nothing wrong with a .38 special...unless your wanting to go higher cap. Then probably a 9mm would fit the bill.IMO

Hey now... there are even some of us that keep a .22 magnum in their pocket constantly. :D

Oh, and Preacher, "Thelma" should be more than adequate, if you shoot it well. I used to have a Taurus 605... basically a .357 mag version of your snubby... that I greatly miss. It would do anything I needed done in a defensive situation.

So I guess my only advice would be to buy a second one, and name it "Louise". :D

Welcome Brother

Like it has been said, find a gun that feels right, then practice.

70% of the time I carry a g21sf, when I want to be comfortable it"s a 38 s&w 442 in a pocket holster, when I want to forget I"m even carrying a gun it"s a NAA 22magnum mini , either in my pocket or around my neck.

I like the taurus millenium pro PT 145. Of course I am a bit biased. I like the .45 cal! but then again I hardly leave the house without my Ruger P345. I don't usually have any problems concealing it.

um hum, I like the way you think. I get that a lot "don't you trust the Lord to take care of you?" to which I reply, "Yes I do, I trust him to hold my hand good and steady if I ever have to fire my sidearm" BTW, my springfield xd9sc works just fine for me, my taurus 851 .38 spl does great too. Find something you are comfortable with, I'm sure the Lord will approve of it!
