The old man looks to have been some sort of somebody when he was younger. Any ideas?

Found him. I thought it was Danny Kaye, but I thought he would have been older by '86.

EDIT: He died in '87.

Youngsters... Sheesh! ;)

That old man is Danny Kaye, and yeah, you could say he was somebody. :P

"White Christmas" baby! But did you know that immediately when he showed up? Honestly? The longer hair was throwing me.

Or The Court Jester.

And yes, most of his movies were done before I was even born. Seems like they were always on TV when I was growing up though.

Too bad they've mostly quit showing the old stuff....

Given that I saw it when it first aired in '86, yeah, I knew who he was. ;)

At least they do show some of the good old stuff some of the time, I am grateful my kids like it all.

The problem is they like a lot of the new garbage also.

Myself I could sure stand a few hours of Petticoat Junction episodes right about now:p

The vessel with the pestle has the pellet with the poison, the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true.

One of the best movie scenes ever!

"The Court Jester," for the unlearned.

I'm 31 and I knew who he was. Funny to see actors at different stages of their life and careers ..... well at least the good ones. The Cosby show and The Andy Griffith show I can watch over and over.

My first introduction to the name of Danny was "Christmas Vacation":

Clark: Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny f***ing Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of ***holes this side of the nuthouse.
