Colorado State University rescinds gun ban after ruling in CU case - Boulder Daily Camera

DENVER — Guns and some other weapons will continue to be legal on the Colorado State University System's two campuses.

The CSU Board of Governors voted Wednesday to rescind a campus gun ban, citing a Colorado Court of Appeals ruling last month that overturned a similar ban at the University of Colorado.

The appeals court sided with Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, which argued the CU policy violated the Colorado Concealed Carry Act.

The student gun group then filed a complaint against CSU in Larimer County District Court.

The CSU board had approved the ban in February. It was to take effect in August.

CSU has campuses in Fort Collins and Pueblo.

The CU Board of Regents hasn't made a decision about whether to appeal the court ruling affecting its campuses. The issue will be discussed at the next regents meeting in late June, said Ken McConnellogue, a spokesman for the University of Colorado system.

McConnellogue said he doesn't think the CSU decision will affect whether CU appeals.

"Obviously they need to do what's best for their campuses, but we don't think their decision affects us," he said.
