New Winchester.....need info

Just got this one for a sweeet deal although i dont know much about it. Its a Winchester Model 94 (my first) chambered in .30 WCF. Serial number is 1527xxx. I would put this rifle at near 90% condition. No modifications, scratches, etc. I would like to know the year it was manufactured and also the typical resale value. I doubt that i will ever part with it but i am interested to know how much they go for. Thanks for the help in advance

pretty sure you can contact Winchester and they will be able to tell you when it made-if you give them the serial number.

and I don't have any idea what it's worth but I'm sure someone else on here will know.

You could probably check gunbroker.com and see what they sell for.

1948.

$500-$600 assuming it is a common variant.

Even though it's a very common firearm, the pre '64, 94 Winchester is a fine gun.

being made in 1948 it should be a flat band model. meaning the band at the end of the barrel is flat instead of rounded. did it for several years after the war and that was it. it should also have the longer 9 inch forearm instead of the shorter 7 inch they changed to a few years later(maybe early to mid 50s if i remember correctly) you have a very nice firearm there, keep it or sell it to me! :D it would go good in my cabinet!!

As an FYI, .30 Winchester Center Fire (WCF) is now most commonly called .30-30 Winchester.

Nice rifle, and a fine tribute to John Moses Browning!
