Ruger Mark III Kit

Recommended Posts

So I've been itching to do some modding on my Mark III and am trying to get some opinions on what I should do first. Should I get the accurizing kit I've seen online first and then look at grips? And if I go with the kit, do I really need all the extras or should I just go with a new trigger and sear and forget about the mainspring housing which I've read can cause misfires? The kit is made by Volsquartsen.

I have the MkIII 22/45.

Major improvements:

Clark Hammer Bushing - removes mag disconnect, takes creep out of trigger

Volquartsen Target Sear - smoothens and lightens trigger

The only issue left is the pretravel of the trigger. The volquartsen trigger is great. I bought the Clark which I somewhat regret because I have to modify it to make it fit. Time will tell if its worth the extra effort.

Between the bushing, the sear, and the trigger your MkIII trigger will be much improved. If you have FTE's then the suggested improvement would be the Volquartsen Exact Extractor.

But you don't need to spend $ on the entire kit unless you really want to. A lot of the parts will be left over. That pretty much sums up what you'll find on rimfirecentral, too.

just FYI my other upgrades are Wolff hammer and trigger springs. I think the trigger spring might slightly lighten the trigger, but looking back I'd just save the $ and stay stock.. its a 22.. the springs aren't an issue.
