In the process of getting my HCP for concealed carry and have a question about carrying around my property.

When I am at home, outside of the walls of my house, how can I legally carry? Can I carry in a hip holster to the garage, sitting on the deck?

Just want to make sure I am legal.

TIA

You can openly carry anywhere on your property and anywhere else for that matter when you get your HCP.

Edit to clarify: You can openly carry on your property without a HCP as well.

I'm unsure if you are asking about currently or after you get your HCP.

If you have a TN HCP you can carry either openly or concealed anywhere you are allowed to carry. With out an HCP I believe you can still carry openly or concealed while on your own property. So even outside the walls of your house as long as you're on your own land, you're good to go.

I don't have my HCP but will be getting it this coming January.

Appreciate the feedback, I just want to be covered on my property.

On your property you can carry however you wish. Carry a rifle if you want. Off your property you need the permit. In either case you can carry open or concealed.

Remember taking the course and submitting paperwork is the easy part. The (up to) 90 day wait is the hard part!

I got my cc permit in the past 3 months and it took around 80 days. In fact, my father in law applied for his 2 weeks after I did, and got his 2 weeks before I did. /boggle.

Appreciate all the info. I have a detached garage that I work in sometimes and don't be without protection.
