Glock 21SF to Bar Sto?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have been thinking of sending my favorite Glock off the 20SF to the boys at Bar Sto for them to custom install a Match grade barrel and do a trigger job on it. I have asked them to send me a quote for this work, Do you guys think I should do it or not?

I'm guessing you shoot competitively? I know that my Glocks are more accurate than I am without all that fancy work. For me, it would be a no-go. If you use yours for competition, then sure, it's probably worth it.

No, I do not shoot competitive, but I will start reloading and the ability to shoot lead is what got me thinking about it. I have researched both Lone Wolf and Bar Sto barrels and the Bar Sto are more accurate for not much more money

No need, really no reason to get a new barrel unless you plan on shooting lead, maybe you'll tighten it's accuracy by a 1/4" at 25 yards, but from what i've seen and heard usually it's a big deal if you even really get that out of it...

Any trigger job you may want to try the feel of on a Glock you can already do yourself, a Glock trigger job is only a combo of polishing, trying a few trigger spring and connector combinations...

+1 on CK1's post. I have a Lone Wolf barrel for lead. No noticable change in accuracy, FWIW.

IMO the best thing you can do to make a Glock more accurate is to find a trigger spring/connector combo you like enough to stick with, and then the rest up to how much you're willing to learn it... dry-firing works as good as live fire too, so while it'll never be as good as a nice 1911 trigger, if you get something that's working for you, just add some time and you'll find they're good for around 2" or better at 25 yrds off-hand... If you don't believe me ask Kano :D... Sucks when you run into a guy at the range and he gets a smaller group at 25 meters than you with your own gun :), I'll be practicing at distance a bit more for a while...

No, Glock barrels don't like lead (as in, it may work now, but when it stops working you will know it...catastrophically), and you can blow your gun up...and yourself....by shooting lead through them. Get a different barrel if you are going to shoot lead and save your hand.

If you shoot alot of lead, sure... that's the only way to justify the cost (unless you simply just want the Bar-Sto barrel). It might be a little more accurate, as well.

If you have started reloading; try the copper plated bullets like Berrys or Rainer (... I get mine from midway...). We shoot them in a stock glock 33 with a handload that gives an honest 1275 fps (...via a chronograph; no guesses from reloading manuals...) for practice loads. There is ZERO leading with these bullets in the stock glock barrel. Accuracy is excellent.

RE: Barsto barrels. They are a great thing. Been around a long time. Some of the first (...and best...) 1911 type barrels for 45 ACP and 36 super. You can’t go wrong with them.

Hope this helps,

Kind regards,

Leroy
