Rothco: Solid...Reliable...Steadfast

So, after ordering my Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon 2, I was in the Red Bank Army Store (which is great by the way) they had Rothco GI Plus Combat Pack for $40 and they seemed to be pretty stout. Anybody had experience with this brand?

I can't seem to find many reviews of their products.

Well the idiot I bought my Maxpedition from has informed me that it is on backorder for two weeks so I told him I want a refund. :D:rant: So I'm seriously considering grabbing this Rothco bag locally to try it out.

I cannot speak about this bag, but from the Rothco stuff I've seen in the past, it's a gamble. Their product lines range from cheap crap straight off the ship from China to a few items that are high quality gear. If it was me, I'd want to inspect the bag in person before buying (or make sure there is a good return policy if buying from an online retailer).

I've bought and used some of their BDU clothing, and it seems to be of pretty fair quality for the money.

Can't really comment on the packs and such, however, looks can be deceiving and may not hold up to the day to day rigors of use.

Like kb4ns said, inspect it first hand, before laying out hard earned cash. FWIW

Well upon casual inspection of the one I saw yesterday ( which I think is the one pictured above) I was impressed with what I saw, but I can't for the life of me find positive (or negative) reviews of their products. Kinda odd for a company that's been in business for over 50 years.

Upon closer inspection, I questioned the integrity of the zippers and stitching of the Rothco bag. It would probably be a decent bag for $40 but I think I'll stick with the Maxpedition.

I think it'll all depend on what you're using it for. If it's to carry your blanket and pillow back and forth to grandma's house, it'll probably last forever. As a bug out bag, it may not make the cut.

And after you made that one post, I did a little googlin' myself without finding any reviews on the 50 year old company. Kinda leaves you scratching your head, doesn't it?

so if you liked the original bag why would you cancel the order over a two week wait?

Do you need it right away?

Patience. I have none.

Rothco is IMO, low quality CHINA made junk. There is better out there at similar pricing, maybe just a few dollars more.

Myself, I dont buy the China crap.
