I'll admit that I had stopped using mayo in the last few years. But recently I saw Dukes at Publix, and decided to buy it (everyone else in my house was conveniently out of town at spring break--no one to yell at me about a purchase I didn't need) .

I was pleasantly surprised!!!

Dukes. And I call for the disqualification of Miracle Whip. I hate it when someone tries to slip me Miracle Whip as mayo. Save the Miracle Whip for your Waldorf salad.

I'll second that.

Kahn's bologna

seriously, bologna does not get any better than Kahn's. Anything that company makes is at the top of the food chain for that product.

While not suprised that Hellmans is currently tied with Dukes I will assume that is because Dukes is not as common and a lot of people have never tried it.

Dukes is too thin. Really sucks for making things like chicken salad. It's good when just spread on the bread for a sammich though. Kraft's will do in a pinch, but Hellman's wins out for me. I buy the big giant jar at Sam's so I don't run out. Hellman's is known as Best Foods west of the Mississippi.

I do not know if Hellmans still uses it or not but they used to have a jingle that said " Bring out the Hellmans, bring out the Best" Is it not made by Best Foods? Anyway I did not know what Best was for the longest time. Now I think that jingle was clever.

How much better is home made mayo? I've been thinking of trying to make some but I've been wondering if the taste is worth the effort. You put any special spices in?

My sister-in-law makes it and it is rich and delicious. I'll try and get a recipe

from her, if you like. If I tried to make mayo it would turn out like turpentine.

I found the last jar of Dukes at Krogers today. Pretty good. Definitely rich.
