Whats your fishing setup?

So what do you use when you go fishing?

My ultralight setup and my favorite is a Penn Slammer 260 ultralight reel with a Bass Pro Ultralight Rod

My whatever else I wanna catch setup is a Penn Spinfisher 750 SSm reel with Bass Pro Rod

and for the record there is NOTHING like catching a 5lb Peacock Bass on a ultralight setup. if you ever get to go to South Florida around Florida City area I recommend getting a setup in the canals and go fishing for the Peacocks there.

I have not wet a line since living in TN. Dunno the first place to fish around here.

When I lived in Boca I fished in the Everglades about once a week, and in the canals by our condo all the time.

I prefered a bait casting reel,no brand preference. No preference on the pole, fairly light strength line and small hooks. Rubber worms (purple with glitter, can't recall the name of them) worked great.

Fished using a Carolina rig. Seemed to work best when the sinker hit the bottom and the worm floated above. The sinker seems to help get the attention of the fish.

Never caught or saw Peacocks, they were further south. But plenty of large mouth around.

Not sure how the Peacock Bass fight vs some of the others, but I've got a largemouth hanging on the wall at home that was close to 8lbs that I landed on an ultralight setup years ago. To make matters worse, I was using a Rebel Teeny Wee Crawfish, and if you know the one I'm talking about you know that the hooks on those are tiny and can easily bend or just pull out of bigger fish. Didn't even have a net with us, so I had to fight him for a while. I've always loved fishing with ultralight equipment.

Current setup is several years old, and it's just a Mitchell Spincast reel (not sure which exact one) on a Berkley rod. I've always been partial to the spincast reels, and have several others. Can't even remember what my larger catch anything setups are because most of the time my go-to rod is that ultralight, unless I'm catfishing. The catfish setup takes a beating, so I usually go fairly cheap with those since they will have to be replaced every year or two anyway.

It's gettin time for an upgrade on all of them though, and I'm leaning toward the Pflueger brand this time around.

I grew up in Fl, wish they had peacocks in my area, but they were just getting a real foot-hold about the time I left, (15 yrs ago), and far south of Sarasota. :tough:

I have about 25 rod/reels, and I bet I cant tell you more then 2-3 of them the exact specs on them as far as brand model number etc. I fish a bunch, but the rod is only a small part of fishing for me. I have caught huge fish on light rods and VERY small fish on the heaviest rods I use.... I call that Spur-luck. :P

Berkley Rods, Ugly Stick. Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5500C3 baitcast reel. I only use those kind, love them, learned on them, my dad used them. Spinner bait, buzz bait, plastic worm (purple with glitter, orange tail), Rapala's.

My dad would have at least three rods, one with a spinner, one with a worm, one with a Rapala on it. I usually have at least two.

Talkin about peacock bass i fished the panama canal back in 96 when deployed down there and we caught them all day and dodged shipping freighters in a jon boat. They put up a heck of fight but I'll take a snook any day of the week. Prefered set up is a falcon 7ft rod with a shimano curado d reel.

It's all about trout here in the eastern part of the state. Been using a Kayak for the last 3 years and that has been a blast!

I have always found that a 1/4 stick of TNT works just fine.

Which One? Fishing is my #1 hobby, and now shooting being a close 2nd. I fish for alot of different species....from Bluegill to Musky. And yes, There are musky in TN. I won't bore you with listing all my different combos(I have about 8-9...haha), but usually keep with the mid-priced stuff for the most part.

If anyone in the East Tn area ever wants to wet a line, Let me know...I try to go at least once a week if I can. :P
