It always amazes how many gun owners don't take the time to teach their children even the most basic firearms safety.

Very sad. Heck I was being taught about gun safety since back before I can even remember, and if and when I have kids they will be taught the same way. Too many parents these days try to just keep their kids away from firearms rather than teaching them how to be safe with them. Heck, alot of teen drivers get injured or worse in car accidents every year, but you don't see parents trying to keep them away from automobiles. Instead they try to teach them how to safely operate them.

I taught both my kids about gun safety and care when they were very little. Thank God!

They are both adults, now.

That made my stomach churn.

2 of my 4 have gone through a class at RangeUSA, the other one who is 6 has not, and of course the 2yr hasn't. I will be giving them an update/refresher course this evening.

I've been taking mine to the range with me since they were about 6 and 7. Even then they were able to handle my {then} 9MM and can shoot a bushmaster with the best of them. I'm actually glad I seen this thread. It's been a couple monthes since we've been. We're due.
