Little woman's first time...

I finally took my fiancee to the range today. This was her first time firing a gun. I bought her a Bersa Thunder 380 to get her started and today she took it for a spin. I have been teaching her about handguns, rifles, firearm safety and the current laws for a year or so. I have been bringing her in slow as she was a Liberal "I'll never own a gun" type when I first met her. She now understands our rights as Americans and the necessity for us to be able to protect ourselves and our family. I was very pleased with her performance. She adhered to every safety procedure I taught her and was much more accurate than I thought she would be. She did better than most of the people in my HCP class. This is a very exciting day for me and I thought I would share.

On a side note, the Bersa performed flawlessly. This was the first time it had been fired since I bought it for her.

Good job to the both of you.

Did your woman have any trouble manipulating the slide? My wife is petite and has more than a little trouble with my Glock 19 and 26.

was she wearing that naughty school girl outfit you posted some time back when you took her to the range? Never mind....;)

Thay actually was my first question as well :dunno: Seriously, Thanks for posting that, my girlfriend has finally decided to take her class and I'm trying to decide what kind of gun to let her practice and take her class with. So you were pretty happy with the Bersa ??

Glad that you're making progress with her. My wife is a recovering liberal too :drama:

The Thunder is a fine little pistol. The wife shot one a while back (before she got her HCP) and liked it. We went to Classic Arms in Cordova and all they had was the Bersa Thunder "Plus" which is the high-cap version. It has a double stack mag and looks a little funny, but still has the same PPK-clone look. That gun was terrible. It never fed right. I was able to tell that the problem was coming from the mag. I tried several things with the mag, even tried buying another mag from Bersa (at $40!) and it still wouldn't feed right. I ended up selling it to a friend at a very reasonable price (he knew about the issues).

But I've never had a problem with any of the single stack Thunders and everyone I know that has one loves it.

Frontier737: As you have probably seen from the pictures, she is not a big girl and she had no problem with the slide. It was the perfect size for her and with minimal recoil she didn't get flustered. She went through 50 rounds with no problems and even had fun. When we got home she asked me to show her how to clean it, I almost cried.

ftncityfatboy: Nope, those outfits are just for me and all of you guys here on TGO.

Bluemax: Yeah, based on feedback and the deal I got on it the Bersa was perfect for us.

No fails or any other problems.

kb4ns: I heard the same thing about those double stack. I think the Bersa was a good call for her.

That's awesome, Caveman. Tell her I said hi and am glad to welcome her to the fold.

I gave her your message, she asked me why you didn't come with us to "pop her cherry." I explained you were out of town at the time. She also wanted to know when you wanted to come over and take those pictures of her...

Mike: As soon as Suntzu comes over and takes them I will post them.

I owned the Thunder Plus in .380 briefly. When I did shoot it, it fed 50 rounds FMJ no problem.

Really, I apparently missed the first ones.

I started a thread in which I posted some pics of her posing with some of my weapons. I had to delete them from my Photobucket account for reasons I won't go into, so if you search the thread they won't be there anymore.

I've got a whole computer full of 'em if anybody wants. I'll even throw in some of Caveman's mom...
