I started this thread a couple of weeks ago in a quest to find some mags that would work well with Glock 33 round mags. I carry a Kel Tech Sub2000 that takes Glock 19 mags and have been wanting to get or build a chest rig for it. Ideally this rig would have the ability to carry 4 mags, a VoK, a smoke, a flashlight, and a multitool at a minimum. I have an order in with John Willis at OSOE for his take on a rig for the above carbine, but there's no ETA on when it will be ready to go. So, I was at a bit of a conudrum. There weren't really any rigs or mags presented to me in the above thread that I thought would work. Then Martin63 posted about US Grunt Gear and their Sub Gun Colt 9mm (6) Mags RR Light Chest Rig. However, it held more mags than I wanted and didn't have much room for expansion. The price was right, though, so I decided to call them up and see what they could do for me.

I called on the 22nd of April at about 1030 and asked if they could customize the rig to my liking. He was very open to the idea and took my order right then. I was prepared to wait several weeks or months, figuring like most custom gear makers they would have a queue. Not so with USGG. I had the rig the following Tuesday (27th) and probably could've had it in 4 days if not for the weekend. The rig itself was $89 and he suggested I add an admin pouch behind the rig and his H-harness for $10. I was expecting $10 each, which is absurdly low, especially for the H-harness, as I'm perfectly fine paying 5 times that for OSOE's version, but no. It was $10 for both, TOTAL! So in total this rig cost $89 for the basic, $10 for the h-harnes and admin pouch, and $14.95 shipping, for a total just shy of $115. As I hope to point out in the following pictures, that is an absurd amount of value for the quality of the gear I received.

US Grunt Gear 9mm Colt LMG chest rig, customized to carry 4 mags and 3 rows of MOLLE on each side, in Multicam, with H-harness and admin pouch. Extra pouch is an OSOE Compact Tear Off VoK with TK4 TQ.

The proof! Visit the website, if nothing else to see what all he offers.

The mag pouches. Notice they are a double layer of nylon. They are extremly stout and hold onto the mags with not extra retention needed. I've shaken the rig upside down with the mags fully loaded and they didn't move an inch. They are easy to draw, though, so it's damn near perfect for Glock mags. I tried the Colt LMG mags at the local gun range and they fit just as securly.

The stitching between the mag pouches. It is at LEAST quadruple stitching. I don't think anyone would argue with the secureness of the pouches to the backing.

Stitching on the MOLLE to the left and right of the mag pouches. As you can see, the added stitching to the high stress areas of gear is what sets quality gear apart from Chi-com knock offs. You truly get what you pay for. You won't have to worry about these channels ripping on you or a pouch flopping around when you have a blow out.

Inside of the admin area. It is not completely sewn onto the rig like an OSOE Micro Rig is. Instead, it is sewn to the rig at the top and vecro at the bottom. Not a big deal to me, but it is something to point out. Also, the elastic is floppy, though when you put items in it holds securely. Personal preference there. Finally, notice that the mag pouches are just a double layer of material sewn to the backing. Again, not bad, especially given the quality of stitching pointed out above, but it is different that what other makers might do.

Bottom of the mag pouches. When I received the rig, there were rolled up Post-its marked "Drain Holes" in these areas. I guess he's had to point that out to people, so I will here as well. Smart idea and it cuts down on weight to just have some nylon line the bottom. Could be a potential weak area in the future if you use this or any similiar rig hard enough, but you would have to rip the nylon because the stitching isn't going to give out.

H-harness. Not adjustable across the shoulders like OSOE's. Lightly padded so they are quite low profile. Very comfortable and supports the weight of the loaded mags and VoK nicely. Straps are wide enough not to dig into your shoulders, but not too wide to get in the way of shouldering the carbine. A very, very nice addition to any rig for $5.

Just to emphasize, a close up of the stitching on the stress areas of the Harness. I hope I've pointed out the quality of the craftsmanship throughout this rig enough.

Stitching of the MOLLE from the rear. You can also see the edge of the admin pouch to the left of the picture, and the velcro strip it attaches to at the bottom left.

I hope you all will agree with me that this is a high quality piece of gear for an outstanding price. Craftsmanship is along the lines of the other, more well-known custom gear makers, but the price is much less than some of them. Overall, I'm very, VERY impressed with US Grunt Gear and will recommend them to others. Outstanding customer service, fast delivery, amazing pricing, and awesome gear. What more can you ask for? Give them a call and see what they can do for you. Take a look at their warbelt, which is, according to the owner, their best selling item and used by a fairly well known colored hat.
