Yep. I knew we were in trouble when I got in my squad car this morning. As soon as I flipped my radio on, I started hearing cars on the radio that weren't supposed to be on duty.

There are lots of flooded businesses and homes here in Bartlett and many flooded out cars. I know that Bartett Fire had to do some swift water rescues on the north end of town.

Looks like more rain is here. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Wife said sirens wailed from 4:15 to 5. So glad I slept all that. At 10, she went to a bridal shower in Raleigh, but getting back now may be the trick. I do love a good carwash, though! Sirens going on now for hours!!!

We are up to 8" of rain now, and it is still pounding. Jackson is pretty much flooded, culverts are washing out, lots of the smaller outlying communities are cut off by high water and sinkholes on the road ways. Water system for the County is down.

Got to crawl under the house and turn my well back on to the plumbing system, (had to bring in county water when the wife had the kidney transplant) kids and grandkids all showed up over here. I still have power, (most of Jackson is shut down power wise too) need to get the toilets flushing again.

WTB: tornado shelter. Looking at getting a prefab unit put in underground in the backyard. There's a company in Jackson that could deliver and install one here for about $3000. We were going to drive over there today to check them out but decided not to because of the, uh, threat of tornados. Flooding's not too bad in my nabe. Tornados, though, are something we're getting real concerned about.

If you end up getting one of those shelters, post a review of it on here for us. That's something I've looked at getting in the past, but wasn't sure where to start.

Well, I guess it's not all bad...

Steve Conley Called around .... NO PROBLEM GETTING A TEE TIME!!!.... but I suppose we'll have to stay on the cart path, huh?

Haha!

Well, a "Flood Warning for Memphis, TN" just came in to my phone. First one of those I've gotten. I've seen many "Flash Flood Warning" messages...

I have been up all night and listening to the scanner, the sirens were wailing nearly all night and have been most of the day today.

Numerous areas here have water into the houses and the TWRA has had boats out rescuing people since about 5AM.

We have a sinkhole on Forest ave that contains an SUV, another sinkhole somewhere else.

At least one factory roof collapse, not sure which one. Power lines down everywhere.

Roads are closed in all directions around me and I-40 was closed for awhile also last night.

In the middle of it all the SO had to get a Domestic Violence offender who was holed up with a shotgun and a pistol.....they got him with with no shoots fired....thank God but it took a few hours.

Morning shift started getting called in about 4-5AM.

As I said there are road closed in all directions around me and the closest is but about a mile away.

Hwy 70 was closed at the Gibson/Carrol line and a lady was trapped on top of her truck and then it was swept a few hundred feet off the road, then the LEO's who got to her got stuck and TDOT had to come get them.

About the time earlier this AM that I told Jack it was a' coming it hit us, has not stopped since, we are at present in a lull but most power is out including both hospitals are running on Emer power. Luckily I still have power and they just said in about 30 minutes we will get another round of it.

Thankfully I have not heard of anyone being hurt as of yet but folks are still stuck in their homes that are half full of water.....Worst I have seen in 18 years here as far as rain. They are still evacuating folks from the MacGee Loop area and also a trailer park down near pinson.

Even the scanner shut down an hour or so ago.....and more is on the way and the prediction was for the most rain to fall tomorrow.

You can get the scanner here if it comes back up....It may well could be in your area.

I guess I wont be going to the range, but may attempt a grocery run just in case this stuff stays longer than they think it will.....it already rained more than they thought it would......and here it comes again:tinfoil:

We've jumped into our safe room a couple of times today, but have thankfully had no damage or flooding out here. Power blinked off a couple of times while were watching the weather radar, but it didn't affect us as we have pretty serious UPS systems all over the house.
