Four words for ya!

"The Purple Pill".

Not to be confused with "The Blue Pill" (although equally as awesome of a pill  )

See your Doc for them. They are frickin awesome!

sounds like the acidity of spaghetti sauce does not agree with you.

I can't eat red sauce either. Aside from it tasting like pooh, the acidity kills me.

The Prilosec you can get at the local pharmacy will put an end to your heartburn/indigestion with a minimum of fuss and bother. No doctor's visit or prescription needed.

Yep. I take Nexium every day. Not cheap, but they really work. You need to take a B-12 supplement with them.

Prilosec is similar to Nexium, and works for some folks. It's worth a try before you get on the purple stuff. I have tried to use it when I ran out of nexium, and it didn't work.

It can take a few days to get into your system and do it's thing.

For me, it works within a few hours, but other folks I know have to take it for 3 or 4 days to get the full effect.

Lately I've been taking one every other day and having it work just fine, but I had to take it every day for a couple of weeks before I could get away with that.

My doctor is aware of the fact I take it, and how, by the way, and doesn't have a problem with it. ( Figured I'd mention that, since I don't follow the directions on the box exactly. )

I have a hyadle hernia and bad reflux because of it. I've taken every pill on the market but nexium is the only one that works. It does a damn good job.

Just be aware that it will cause a B-12 deficiency that can lead to nerve damage. It blocks B-12 absorption from food, but not supplements. I don't think it's a big deal unless you stay on it long term. I have been on it for a few years, so I normally take a B-12 capsule with it. I didn't learn this from my doctor.

From what I can remember, the OTC dosage is smaller than the prescription dosage, so the box is gonna be conservative.

I really have taken a decent stab at prilosec, but when all was said and done, it was almost as expensive (using OTC), and much less effective. I wish I could get away with using it.

my mom is a gastrointrologist or however you spell it and she gave me some purple pills to take one a day. i think it was all the grease or whatever from the meatballs in it cause i vomited 4 times and it was mostly grease. i feel like im sharing too much info with yall lol

I have it bad, too. I get the Rx Prilosec. Comes in generic, so it's cheap with insurance and it definitely does the trick.

I discovered that high carb content was responsible for my bouts of reflux years ago.

I can eat meat/green veggies and go to bed an hour later with no probs (not that that's the best dietary habit or anything).

But pasta, potato, bread, fruit on same time frame, urp.

My grandfather always joked that he had never had heartburn in his entire life. Reason was, my grandmother would always cook a huge meal on Sunday, and they would eat leftovers for the rest of the week. Well, each time they ate, my grandmother would ask the blessing over it. So, by the end of the week, it had been 'blessed' 10 or 12 times!

He always called it Holy Rolaids!:D

I used to eat Zantac's, but my wife converted me to acidophilus capsules. That probiotic stuff actually works, and is a bunch cheaper. Nothing seems to work with my desire for fried chicken.
