Nope. It was an impromptu thread merge.

If someone was prohibited to own guns, why can they not defend themselves with at least a baton, is what I was asking. And yes, I've always felt that, if qualified to carry a handgun, you should be allowed anything else that is lesser in lethality, as well as a Rambo/Suntzu knife.

I'm with you here jack. Well until you do the Rambo/Suntzu knife part.

Let's look at reality head on: Rambo carries a survival type knife. Sure it would really hurt to get stabbed and you might die. Suntzu carries a wolf knife. So even if you made it to the hospital, and if the wound was repairable the doctor would simply pass.

Why? Because he/she knows someone armed with a wolf knife doesn't stop if the victim lives. If the doctor fixed the patient the wolf knife owner would have to kill the doc and his family. And the original victim (of course).

IT's a wolf knife, not a bobcat knife. C'mon.

Oh, I get what you're asking. I think that's the state's way of saying that those with felony convictions, DV convictions, etc. can't carry anything but a pack of skittles (no baton regardless of training, etc.)

Well, anybody can still carry a 4" knife, even a felon.

Who's carrying the Net right now?

You should give it to Mosi.

Somebody gave it to me last Fall. I gave it to Punisher. Don't know who he gave it to, so I say (Everything in post #58).

Took the class a few months back and was told it was a lifetime certification.

Took the class a few months back and was told it was a lifetime certification, its on file with the state in case a LEO needs to verify.

That's good to know, where did you take it and how much was it? Chatt. is not a far drive for me.

I'm just going by what Suntzu told me, I don't know for sure since I dont have the cert. Knowing me and my memory, Suntzu might not even have told me that, who knows...

No I remember someone talking about how it had to be renewed. Maybe the previous person was right in saying that maybe only 1 instructor makes you renew it?

Either way it sounds like a lot of $

No, Suntzu told me that too, and I mentioned it in the linked thread.

But Punisher disagreed. Also note Mad4rcn's post above.

I dunno.

I'd be tempted to take it just so I could carry a sap, rather than baton.

what's a sap?

I would define "sap" as; a person who read the "sap" comment and didn't get it.

Just playin Erik.

I guess you old guys need something to defend yourselves with when you lose your sight and can't aim a gun anymore.

Just another hedged bet defense in court, whippersnapper.

"Well, your honor, I thought I showed remarkable restraint - I could have shot him, you know."

Touche good sir. I have to admit I got a chuckle out of the thought of you beating someone with one of those.
