Taurus 605 3inch barrel

Does anyone have any experience with these guns? The one I am looking at is stainless and does not have the lock. It is a bobbed hammer also. Are these reliable guns? I am not looking for the most accurate, but I do need reliable. I like the extra length but not if it won't function or hit a barn at 15 yards. I already know everyone says not as good as ............... (insert brand) but I would like to hear from people who have or had one. Thanks for the help.

Depends on what you want it for, I guess.

While I personally do not have a Taurus revolver, I know people who do and they are very satisfied with them. When you consider that a Taurus is $80-$100 less than its S&W J Frame counterpart, then it's quite a bargain.

I'm not a fan of Taurus autoloaders, but would not hesitate to buy a Taurus wheelie at a fair price.

If you want input on a Taurus from Taurus owners you should visit:

This is the only other forum I visit on a daily basis, because I own 3 Tauri myself, and they tend to be pretty fair and honest about them.

My younger daughter got one for her EDC. She qualified with it but found it to be a bit big to hide so she got an LCP. The 605 never gave any kind of problem. She sold it because she didn't need 2 carry guns. I personally don't understand that part but go figure. . .

Have the 2" version of the 605. Has been a good shooter for both my wife and I. Used it for HCP qualifying. Only "reliability" issue occurred when I left the yoke screw a bit loose and it fell out - took about 2 weeks or so for them to send me a new one, but they did so at no charge and they sent the spring and stop with it, too. Ours is the newer version with the lock (never used, but never problematic) and the full hammer.
