Does the weather affect your carry weapon/rig of choice and why?

I've heard quite a few people on this forum and others talk about carrying this handgun in this situation and this handgun in that situation. I will admit that I carry two handguns for different duties, but the weather does not affect my choice. If I am able to carry my primary weapon, It will be IWB and I never have a problem. Warm or cold days. If I am in a situation that I can not carry my primary, I will have my Kel-Tec in my back pocket, but there again that is determined by duties and not weather.

What's your deal?

Primary weapon is always carried IWB under the outermost layer of clothing--in winter under a hoodie or coat, in warmer weather under a T-shirt. The ARG even works well (no printing) with a suit, surprisingly.

Colder weather does allow me to slip a spare (read: second) J-frame in my coat pocket, though I still carry my primary in the same place.

I carry differently all the time IWB, OWB, and Pocket are my mainstays but the weather has no bearing on what way I carry mostly the place I'm going to does.

I carry OWB M&P40c all the time. I'm too fat to use an IWB and too old to change my ways now. Pull a golf shirt on over my peice and go on about my business. If the notice oh well, if they don't oh well. I do "straighten" my clothing to keep it covered but you can still see the bottom of the holster if you look for it.

I have to say yes, since I open-carry on a fairly regular basis when the weather is warm and I'm wearing light clothes... but always conceal when conditions/weather warrant a cover-garment. It's usually the same gun, either way.

I always carry. It doesn't matter what the weather is doing. :woohoo:

I also always carry concealed. Again, regardless of weather. I might carry OWB if it's colder out and I am wearing a jacket or coat, though.

Ditto but I always carry OWB 'cause like dralarms, "I'm too fat to use an IWB and too old to change my ways now."

XD9 is the main. Seecamp is always with me and many times one will find a small frame Taurus 38 in a Desantis pocket holster (off hand side) on me.

I carry a sub compact when I'm just wearing a t shirt, and a larger commander sized gun when I can get by with a cover shirt. I prefer to be discrete for various reasons, so what I'm wearing dictates how big a gun I can carry.

No. Get a j frame and yours won't change either.

There's something to be said for consistancy. If I go past my mailbox, I have one on me.

I really don't swap carry guns...I may add to the above loadout, but I don't swap out the J-frame.

I would also add the Kahr PM9 (reliability checked) to your list.

IMO, the two best pocket pistols.

same here, I am less worried about if my shirt is long enough, or printing...a jacket kills the concern...

I always carry the same gun OWB, but strangely, have an easier time concealing in warm weather with an untucked polo than I do in cold weather with various jackets or vests that always seem almost too short. I have also found that darker shirts, especially ones with horizontal stripes reduce "printing."

carry all the time, regardless of weather. i normally wear polo shirt or something like out over my gun. normally wear a fobus, but sometimes wear donhume paddle. looking into iwb possibly might try that also. kinda fluffy here also, just have to see.

I often carry my handgun in my jacket pocket instead of pants or shorts pocket in the winter time. It is quicker to get to than slacks. At times when on long trips on 40 between Memphis and North Little Rock i will carry a full sized handgun under a coat when i absolutely most stop somewhere along the freeway. I feel a little better with a full sized handgun when traveling a distance at night and if i am wearing a coat and conceal it, then why not? There are some shady characters at gas stations on the open highway.
