Are those considered a SBR? Seems to me I checked into getting one and you had to do all the paper work and everything.

Most are considered handguns, depends what the manufacture designates it as when built, the Puma Repo's are handguns I am pretty sure. But $$$$$

Okay, now that I'm done being a smart-ass ( for now ), and no help at all, I'll say that I wouldn't mind owning a copy of the "mare's leg" either.

However, unless somebody gives me one, or I suddenly learn how to money, I just can't see it happening.

The main reason for this that I just can't think of a practical use for the thing, or anything that it may do well.

I doubt it makes a very good pistol, and with the stock chopped off, it's use as a rifle is non-existent. And unless somebody makes one in .22lr, it's going to be a pretty expensive "fun gun" to operate.

So until I get rich or really lucky, it's just not on my list.

Still, I can appreciate the reasons why a fellow would want one, having grown up watching The Bounty Hunter. ( In re-runs, of course. )

No, they certainly are NOT practical, I just think they are very cool and when I found out that I could legally own one non NFA it peaked my interest in them

I also want a Fully Auto Tommy Gun, not very practical either but somehow I do not think I will ever be able to afford that, The Mare's Leg will be a cool retro toy for me I will eventually pick one up

If you are looking at Puma reproductions, there here is the last known price from a "reputable" dealer that I can find.

If you want an original Winnie, and they never made a chopped version that I know of, then be prepared to pay.

I was speaking in broad terms. I prefer Marlins and you can get a brand new .30-30 or 38/357 in the $500 range or less (more or less, less for .30-30)

I have played with two of the Puma Bounty Hunters. One was in .44/40 and the other in .45LC. They seem like they are very well built. Fit and finish is nice too.
