Q: How to price used rifle accessories?

Ok, so instead of one of those "This is my gun, how much is it worth" threads, I thought I'd format the question without mentioning the rifle itself.

When it's time to sell this hunting rifle, what is an accepted method of pricing how much my accessories for it would add to the total value of the rifle?

I don't count the scope, which came with the rifle on initial purchase.

But things like I have a hard case, sling & adapters, bipod, 60 rounds of ammo and 18 (random I know) empty cartridges for reloading. Would these things give any added value and if so, what % of their value would it add to the sale?

Thoughts?

If its like a car(which thank the lord its not) you would only get about 25% of retail. That being said. It really depends on what it is. A $100 harris bipod is usually $50-$60 a $60 bipod seems to bring about $30-40.00 Sling swivels arent really worth anything so keep em if you can use them later. Hard case...figure 50% sometimes 75% if its a good brand like Pelican or Storm...also condition counts. Ammo...figure 75% of standard retail. Thats been my experience.

I second Magic's numbers; but also take into consideration that if your rifle is a less desireable variant/style, sometimes throwing in extras for free helps move the gun faster.

I've found that lots of times, you are better off to keep many accessories, as they don't usually add much value to the gun. Once you have a great big box of this stuff, you can dig through it periodically for fun, sometimes you'll find something in there you need for another rifle, or you can trade or sell some of these items by themselves when you find a person looking for such items. These items also make good trade fodder.
