That looks like alot of fun! The closest I've came to that type of shooting is at the beginning of Modern Warfare 2, a video game.

Exactly! This kind of shooting is so fun you'll scratch your head sometimes wondering how it's not illegal.

Come out to a match and give it a go, you won't regret it (except that it'll make poking holes in paper while stuck in some lane like some future veal parmagiana seem kind of boring). My kids play MW2 like fiends... on saturday mornings I get to do it my way.

Great video, Catseye. IDPA looks like practical and also a lot of fun.

How friendly are the stages for beginners? I'm thiinking those 8"(?) plates were about 10 yards out?

My weekends are mostly accounted lately because I'm being a good fiance and helping prepare for my wedding, but if I'm ever able to shoot a match I'd jump at the chance.

byrnemm,

The steel plates were about 10-12 yards away. IDPA is very welcoming of new shooters and there is nothing you will encounter that can't be done if you take your time. You should try it some time.

DaG,

We usually follow IDPA rules but this was a modified match. Fully loaded mags, more round count and no cover garment. MCTS does it a few times a year just to mix things up.
