Put a hundred rounds of dirty ass ammo from reloaders bench in MJ. Shot like butta. I had one piece of brass land on my head, but everything else was AOK. Now I gotta read how to break this sucka down...

Nice looking gun!

Breaking it down is pretty easy once you figure it out. Im going to hit the range up tomorrow. If you feel up shooting that thing some more I can show you how to break it down afterwards.

Kano, do you have a favorite? I'm interested in a custom 1911 amd am kinda torn between Wilson and Nighthawk Custom. I have heardthat Wilsons are fussy, but I would expectthat from any "high end" firearm. My Kimber is fussy with ammo sometimes, and then sometimes it isn't. Anyway, just curious to see if you had any preference between the Wilson and the Nighthawk.

Range Ammo: Usually Georgia Arms or what ever is cheapest, NO Wolf though..steel cases bad for chamber.

Duty Ammo: Issued Remington 230 gr Golden Saber Bonded

Non Duty Guns: Georgia Arms 185 gr Gold Dots +Ps

Carry method: the only way I know how...Cocked and Locked

Well it does, a 1911 isnt just another pistol you can stick in your pants (like a Glock) takes a certain amount of dedication.

That said, the 1911 is NOT a gun for the casual user, or what we call NDP's (non-dedicated personnel). The gun was designed when technology was expensive, but skilled labor was not. The exact opposite is true today. A carry 1911 should be gone over by an experienced specialist (Heinie, Burns, Yam, Yost, Garthwaite, etc) and then properly maintained by the end user. The average cop or typical CCW holder would be better served with a Glock or SIG in most cases. If you're willing to spend the money to get a properly set up 1911 and TRAIN with it, then you're not "average".

Well spoken.

I agree with that, and am not offended by it (I don't carry a 1911). I have no illusions that the majority of 'cookie cutter' duty weapons nowadays have nearly the refinement or potential of a properly set up 1911. It is truly a shooter's gun, not so much a utilitarian tool.
