Steelharp, you make a good point. I didn't think about that. If the actual price is a lot closer to a RIA, the fact that this is an American made gun with better sights could change things. Another thought, with so many manufacturers selling some type of 1911 pistol, it seems that going back to basics is about the only way left to distinguish your product from everyone else. Why would Remington bring another 1911 to market with "full length guide rod, Novak style sights, beaver tail- bump grip safety," etc..

With a MSRP of $699 I bet it goes for aound 550-6. Which makes it tough to compete with a GI Expert that already has a jump on the no frills market right now. I'd like to hold it and see. I like the basic look of it though.

I have to get 1 no way I would pass on a new Remington 1911, it cant be any worse than a custom Kimber

I am with you, I am getting one just because it is a Remington but I will more than likely keep it NIB and unfired,

I doubt Remington manufactures it they more than likely got some one else that already makes one like the people at RIA to make it for them and stamp the Remington brand on the side . Hence the 200 buck mark up. It is more expensive so it s gotta be better . Right ?

I have news for you, If RIA or any foreign maker manufactures this pistol I will NOT buy one, Remington should be made in america, I have been told that it will be built here in the states and that comes from a credible source.

If that’s made here by Remington and has a street price under $700; Remington just hit a home run.

Agreed, they will sell like hotcakes and be a huge success for them

*yawn* is my personal reaction. Another government model.

It needs a beavertail, a commander hammer, and an ambi safety to be useful for me. At least it has a dovetailed front sight. If it's not a Rock Island with "Remington" stamped on the slide, I bet it sells like crazy.

That's what great about the platform. It needs zero of that... for me.

Beavertail for me too... Hammer pinch on these hams only takes once. :2cents:
