Picked up a new addition today-- My first 1911!

I couldn't resist. It just kept calling my name.

I have to learn to stop going to the gun shop. Something always follows me home.

Anyhow, I'm now the owner of a Springfield GI 1911. Can't wait to hit the range this weekend! As I understand it, this modem is pretty minimal feature-wise as far as 1911s go, but it was at least somewhat affordable.

Ha. I have been looking for a parkerized one. I have the stainless one. Its been great so far. I love everything about my G.I. except for the fact its stainless steel.

I have heard many people baking the parkerized guns in the oven covered in grease. Something about making the parkerized finnish even more durable. Don't know if you would want to do that or not.

Congratulations ! I'm also getting the sickness for a 1911. Just that I've never owned one. I've been looking at one like that myself.

:koolaid:I see cherry koolaid in the pitcher:koolaid: I drank some. It's good:D

That first one got broken in before I ever got to shoot it. Took it apart so many times, playing with it. Carrying it is little different from the plastic toys

and I'll keep carrying the Glock 30, but my 1911 is rugged and fun to shoot.

Enjoy the new toy! Nice looking gun.

I'd have to disagree... it shoots .45 AND it connects to the internets?!?

Seriously, congrats. From what I have read, the Springfield GI is one of the best bargains out there for new 1911s. Well done. The classic look is always in style.

I hope to get my first 1911-style pistol when Dan Coonan comes out with his updated .357 Mag. I'll have to save up for a while, though.

My bil has an orginal Coonan and it's great. I'd like to see the new product up close and personal, but I'd definitely be interested.

Seems that we moved slightly off track there. But everyone's right; the 1911 bug bites without warning and doesn't let loose. But at least the bite isn't fatal, just expensive to treat.

There's always a "first," there's never an "only." You'll love it.

You're right, I started with a fairly plain 1911 A1 Mil Spec from Springfield, went to Guns & Leather today and this followed me home...
